I feel good :)

Hi everyone, certainly been a while. Been popping in from time to time but don't really have a whole lot of time to post.

I don't know if any of you remember the lab/catahoula mix we acquired and were trying to find a home for. We had her for about a month and a half to two months. She was very sweet. Her owner was supposed to help us in paying for food, etc. Well, that never happened and she misteriously has lost contact with us. We get a voicemail with some excuse as to why she has not contacted us or sent any money to help. So, we're not even worried about it anymore. We found a great home for her. A fairly young family. They have two kids and a baby. They also have two pitbulls. One stays in the garage and the other comes and goes as he pleases. He said they just prefer to stay out there. Well, he wanted to find a dog for their baby to grow up with, and for his wife while she stayed at home. They loved their mothers black lab, and were leaning towards one. So they came across our adoption ad and gave us a call. My mom took her over there to meet with them, and the kids absolutely fell in love. They immediately ran to her and loved all over her. The parents were in love too. Maggie did, however, get loose because the kids opened the door before her leash was on. But my mom felt it was good for them to see what she does when she gets loose. For some reason, she just runs all over the place and then she comes back. So it was a lesson learned for the kids. They took her home that day and said she's doing wonderfully. She's playing with the other dogs, played with their mothers black lab, and is playing with the toys and kids. He was very knowledgable, and knew a lot about the dog food deal. He feeds Diamond? I don't know a whole lot about that brand, but isn't it slightly better than most of the "grocery store bought" foods? Anyways, he knew about the switch and asked if we could bring a supply of food to switch her over without getting diarrhea, as he knew changing homes was going to be stressful enough. So we bought a small bag of Canidae, and I got her a toy... I wasn't sure if she'd play with it or not cause she really didn't play with toys here unless it was with Lugar. And brought one of the pillows from the house that she'd always lay on. He said he is absolutely amazed and so pleased with her because all of the other dogs he's had haven't come close to being what she is. She's exactly what they've been looking for in a dog.

So, I'm very happy she's in a wonderful home. He told us that any time we want to come see her, we are more than welcome to come to their house and visit.

Other than that, not too much going on. I quit my job at Doggie day care Nothing personal with them, it's just I wasn't able to live off of it. I was raised to $10 an hour but once that happened I was cut back to working 4 days. So it's not like I was making anymore money. So, working at Home Depot full time, I can get 40 hours a week, with chances of overtime, holiday pay, benefits, etc. So I made the choice to do that. I didn't WANT to do it, but it's something I had to do. Steven and I want to find our own place within the next 6 months to a year so we want to be able to save. And of course when I told them I was leaving, they both said "Well if you came and talked to us we could have given you 40 hours". Which is total snot because as I said, they raised me and then cut me back in hours. So I said I'd be around to help on holidays and stuff.

But that's about it. I'm going to go find my camera chord so I can upload a few pictures on my brothers computer. I know it's been a pretty good while since I've posted pictures.

That's all for now. Tata

Looks like the new year is off to a bright begaining for you and I hope it continues and you get your new home. It's always great when you find just the perfect match when fostering. I had a lot of those myself.
Good luck with your new job. It sounds like one you could really move up with.

Thanks for the update, it's nice to know how everything's going with you and the doggies! I think you made a really wise decision to quit your job and go with the new one. The reality is, very sadly I might add, that it's not always great to be in a job that we absolutely love but pays so little. Sometimes you just have to make compromises. Who knows though, you might have your own doggy daycare business some day!

I'm glad the puppy found a loving home! It is always great when they have happy endings. That stinks about your job. This summer I'm either going to need to get a major raise along with a boost of hours or I'm going to have to get a second job somewhere to help pay for just normal life expenses. I don't want to quit working at the vet (so many doggy benefits), but I'm going to definitally need some extra cash.
