Unhappy Missing dog in the Woodlands, TX :(

A good friend of mine left her golden retriever, Nikki, at a "pet hotel" (used loosely) and when she returned they told her that they had LOST her dog! Somehow she'd gotten out, andt hey had a very long and involved story about how it happened, but ultimately it's pointless now because her baby is missing.

I don't know how i can help best but there are several of her friends going up to the woodlands to post fliers and ask around this weekend, and i just thought it couldn't hurt to put a post up like this in case there are any Houstonians out there who know what it's like to have thier pet go missing. This dog is her entire world right now, i won't go into all the awful details, but suffice to say she NEEDS this dog... Please anybody who has any information i can't tell you how appreciative all of her friends, and family (not to mention her!) would be. this is one of the most tragic situations any of us can experience, and i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Thanks for any information in advance!!!

Nikki is a golden retriever and the "hotel" said her collar came off when she escaped, so she's running around without a collar somewhere in the Woodlands north of Houston TX.

I don't have a picture right now, but if i get one i'll be posting it as soon as i can. We're doing everything possible from a physical perspective to find her, so this is just one more outlet i thought i could try, an open forum. Thanks for listening!

Oh my goodness that's terrible! My best wishes go to your friend that she finds her dog. Her heart must be breaking right now.
You've probably already done this, but in case you haven't....make sure you alert not only vet offices, shelters and pounds, but also rescue organisations in your state (both all breed and GR rescue). You can find them through google. You could also alert the GR club in your state/area, they often have their own rescue attached to the club.

What ever you do, don't stop looking. Good luck! I hope you find her.

Cass.

That is absolutely disgraceful! I feel so, sooo sorry for your friend. I hope someone is able to find the dog. It seems a bit of a coinsidence that the dog's collar came off, and that the dog went missing. It's just odd...

I also am very sorry for your friend; I would be soooo devastated!
That is one of the few times that I believe in lawsuits. She should take these idiots to the court. She entrusted her beloved pet to them and they LOST IT!? OMG!!

Could there be a possibility that maybe they did not lose the dog but sold it insted?

I know thats an awful thing to think... but you never know with people now days. if you seach the woods and nothing turns up and nobody has seen anything this my be your alternative. Does she has a chip or tattoo? If she does alert all the vets and shelters in the surronding areas and the next towns over. You never know she may have been sold.

I am sure if she truly did escape (as we do not know details) they probably feel awful, but they must of been keeping a lousey eye on her not to be able to retrieve her. I do in house dog sitting myself and I do not use seperate kennel rooms, but they have there own crate for night time. I take no more then two dogs and owners must sign a consent saying they are dog friendly and if anything happens, accident, injury or otherwise (goes into way more detail) they cannot hold me responsible and will incure all costs. I do not leave my dogs outside un-supervised and I have an indoor play room for them, not to mention they have freerome of PART of the house as the other ends are gated off. If the lady had her sign a contract she will have a hard time suing. But if she sold the dog, thats a different stroy....

I hope your friend finds her

I agree, it sounds very fishy. There aren't any laboratories in the area are there? I would be investigating that route (that perhaps the dog was sold), adding something like, "have you seen or purchased this dog?" to the fliers! What an awful, scary situation.
