HOLY COW!!!!! What a beautiful cat. I have to say that if it was at my back door I would not have the wits about me to take pictures. I probably would have need a change of pants.

Doesn't that look more like a cougar? The bobcats that I've seen, had striping, tufts on the ears, etc.

Whoa!!! I'm glad we don't have those here...coyotes though. They're not very "ferocious" though .

I don't see those tufts either, the tufts on the jowls or the common markings, but if it's a cougar, it must be a young one...doesn't look too big. It's amazing that it is that tame. We have them here but hardly ever see them....usually very reclusive..... elusive. The wildlife people ought to come and take it somewhere further out where it will be safe. I hope your friend isn't feeding it either.

bobcat, cougar, mointain lion, etc

I think the thing is around here we call all wild cats any of the above.... I personally know I dont know the difference, I just say what everyone else tells me they are....sorry if I was wrong.

She was scaired the first time it came around. She was walking to her car the first time she saw it...so by now shes used to it...and the pics were taken from behind a sliding glass door.

They are amazing photos...beautiful.

However, if it stays around there....around people, this will be the beginning of the end of it's life because wild animals that become semi tame, losing their fear of humans are very, very dangerous and unpredictible and the wildlife people will end up having to destroy it.

This occasionally happens here in the great wilderness of the extreme north panhandle of Idaho where I live. I do have an occasional bear come through but mostly it stays back in the woods, once or twice it came up to my seperate garage which isn't that far from my house. But these are mostly black bear...once in while a grizzly. But bears don't scare me nearly as much as cougars. Those cougars can leap from a roof or tree and you never hear one sound. The first thing you know is that they're on you. But we aren't really natural prey to cougars, but they apparently see in pixels and that is how they determine their prey. Sometimes they make mistakes when the pixels get sent to their brain. (LOL... something on TV) The bears are usually afraid and run off...the black bears, that is.

I do hope your friend will call in the forest service or wildlife management. They send us out things that say, "a fed bear is a dead bear."

Thanks for sharing those beautiful and rare pictures.

Oh my goodness, it's gorgeous!!!! It's definately a cougar. I'm so jealous! The biggest predator mammal (apart from humans that is) that we've got here is the dingo and they're just dogs. LOL Sooooo jealous!!

Cass.

Ya that's deffinately a cougar! What a beauty! But I'd be worried about going out at night! My aunt lives out in the boonies on Ontario and when we visit I'm reluctant to take OC out to pee at night because they have bears, and wild cats, and wolves. Since their dog died the wildlife have been coming closer to their house and at night you can hear the wolves howling to eachother. Sends a chill down one's spine like nothing else! I love it there!
