I haven't owned a lot of dogs but I've had a chance to handle quite a few and been around a lot of different breeds, and I would have to say that the Pems and Cardis are by far the best I've ever owned..smart, loyal, comical, extremely intelligent, and very perceptive. The best part is they're like potato chips....you can't have just one!!

Such a hard question...
My first love was a big old chocolate lab named Teddy. We'd go for walks and sit outside. He helped me with my lemonade stands when I was young. I'd wrestle with him and cuddle him and just... love him. He belonged to the neighbors. I was heartbroken when we moved away. As much as I'd like to say that Basenjis are my favorite breed (Saboo was my first dog), I can't. Saboo is a freak of nature in that she's an incredibly well behaved, sociable, sweet basenji. She's good with kids, other dogs, cats, etc. I love Saboo, but not neccesarily all basenjis. I think I'd have to go with the cattledogs. Growing up, a neighbor had one named Norman. After a few years, my family wound up with a cattledog named Strider (he still lives with my dad). I now have Hippo. There's something about them that gets me... the kinda scrappy attitude, the neverending energy, the great big smile on their faces, the goofy tricks, the sense of humor, that perfect coat- not long enough to need a lot of brushing, but long enough to let them enjoy the snow, the perfect size... boy do I love them! |

We had a few dogs growing up. My Mom's favorite was a rescued GSD Pax. She had gotten her from an uncle that tried to make her vicious for watching his garage. Instead she was very timid & afraid of men. I don't quiei remember her. I think I was 2? We had another GSD growing up. Teddy, I do remember. He was vicious. He bit a little girl my Mom babysat. He ended up stolen, beleive it or not!
Then we had Beau So Leigh. Beau for short. My Dad's Cousin was a BYB & when he finally stopped breeding, My Aunt & grandmother brought us the last of the pup. He was so dumb, he was smart! Excelled in OB. Never really had to leash him. Always in a correct heel when walking him. He knew how to escape our yard to visit during reccess. My Mom worked nights & after she would see us off to school she would leave the door open in the warmer weather & to let Beau come in & out of the house himself. Well, Someone came in & turned on our gas stove. Beau spaced in the house so to wake my Mom up. He was great to bring sliding in the winter too! He would run along the sleds as we went down hills! If I could get a Collie like that again? You bet I would! ![]() |

I've had different dogs growing up...Min. Schnauzers, Siberian Husky, St. Bernard, Shelties, Samoyeds, and now our Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgis. I never thought I'd find a dog smarter than some of my Shelties I had, but the Corgis definitely top them! They are almost scary smart! It's pretty bad when you have to reason with a dog to get them to do something when they don't want to! They are usually pretty obedient, but, if they get a wild hair, you have to trick them to get them to do what you want! LOL They learn so quickly, and then they tend to get bored, so they re-invent a way to do the same trick, to break the monotony. You always have to stay one step ahead, but I love that about them! We will never be without a Pem or Cardi!! And, just like Rus said, you can't have just one!

This is an easy one for me. Hands down australian shepherds are my favorite breed. They encompass everything I love about border collies: brains, herding instinct, drive, energy, athleticism minus the neurosis plus a wiggle butt, a jovial attitude and a sense of humor and they come in gorgeous colors so they all look unique and they don't shed daily but blow their coats twice a year. What could be better than that?
They are also incredibly versatile and usually love children. I hope I never live without an aussie ![]() |

I would definately have to say BOXERS!
I've grown up with dogs. I've had...Brittanys, Beagles, Golden Retrievers, Labs and Siberian Huskys and Boxers. And out of all of them, I just love the personality of boxers. I love all of those dogs too, so im not dissing anyone. Theres just something about boxers that I absolutely love. ![]() |

Ye Gads! what a choice. I would have to say all of them were/are the greatest for the stage of life that I am in.
Chicklets my mixed breed that put up with so much from me and loved me still. I grew up with her until she was PTS at age 16 Kipper my first dog owned as an adult a border collie mixed with either Alsation or Belg. Shep. he was solid black except for 3 white hairs between his shoulders and a few mixed into his tail. With the patience of a saint he was my companion for 15 years Ashe my first full border collie and heart dog he was purchased from a petstore as a pup (beore I knew about byb, mills and rescue) he is 13 years old just retired from agility this summer. He grew up with my son and daughter, thinks hes a kid, was the perfect first agility dog. Sweet as the day is long and at almost 13.5yrs will still ask to play frisbee, run with the kids and except for being a bit sore has never (knock wood) had any health problems Riley my first aussie gotten from a Breeder that I researched who was looking to place an older pup. He is my protecter, my boy, I am his human. He is my current agility partner and I love him from his pink splotched nose to his wonderful wiggle My next dog? another Border I think but who knows |

The best dog I've ever owned/lived with is a shepherd mix dog. I love the mutts and will probably always gravitate towards them. I guess if I had to pick my favorite breeds though, it would be the German Shepherd dog and the chihuahua. Very different, I know...lol.

I don't have a favorite breed. Each of my dogs were the "best" in their own unique way. My childhood mutt? A pom I had for 18 years? A GSD I had for 11 years? My current poo and min pin? I can't choose. There are too many breeds and life is too short.

I honestly couldn't pick. All of the dogs I've owned were special and unique in their own way. I know some people get that bond with one in particular, but I have always had a close bond with every one of my pets. To say I loved one above all the rest would be unfair, because I do and have loved every single one of them equally, no matter what.
