Do You Let...

...people's posts in the debate forum control what you think of the person?

I like everyone on this forum and respect everyone's opinions, even when I may not agree with them. There have been some idiots in there who are just looking to pick a fight, and there are some people on here who's "breeding practices" I don't agree with and I tend not to think much of those people.
But they are the ones who are given sound advice over & over and ignore it.

As for most, I like all of you and your opinions in the debate forum don't make me like you less.

I was just wondering if others were the same or opposite...

How people handle themselves in a debate tells a lot of the person. If they are polite and respectable then I can take any of their option, if they are rude, don’t get a point you’ve made five hundred times exc., That’s when I form a bad option.

Yeah, I tend to agree with the both of you. Although I may not agree with someone. If they're points are made politely and intelligently, I never dislike them just because I don't agree with them or don't particularly like their opinion in a debate.
However if they're obviously just throwing fuel on a fire and not listening to (reading ) a word anyone says, my opinion of them sinks a little. Also, I admit to taking an instant dislike to someone if their breeding practices or general care of their animal isn't up to snuff in my book (if that makes any sense? LOL ). Of course, I do change my opinion if I discover things aren't as they appeared to be at first. After all, first impressions aren't always correct. Especially when you're dealing with people online.

Cass.

As someone who tends to become rather defensive due to being quite stubborn I try and keep what goes on in the debate forum in the debate forum because it is quite possible that there are others like me in there. Some topics are very sensitive and it is unfair to judge someone just because your views on a particular topic differ from theirs.

I agree. I can think of a few people who have "sunk" in my book though. I won't name names of course, but they just didn't listen to anyone's advice and were rude about their opinions.

I usually automatically dislike someone if they have the intent to breed for cuteness or because they just want to, at first they may not know the whole picture (homeless dogs, responsibler breeding, etc), but after having it explained by almost everyone on this forum and still going ahead with it makes me dislike them.

Also if someone were to come on here boasting about their mean pit that they use for fighting, they would automatically be dirt in my book.

I generally don't let debates interfere with what I think of a person, unless a post in the debate forum revealed something horrid about them. The debates are all in good fun, anyway.

I agree with you guys regarding the people who don't breed responsibly or who don't take care of their animals. Those people instantly lose "points" in my book.

The opinions themselves don't affect my perspective on someone, but how their opinions are presented says alot to me, and it can cause my view of them to go down. However, I hope that regardless of my view of someone, I never stoop to treating them badly. I know I am not always successful in this, but that is really my desire.

Everyone has a right to an opinion but if they attack other people then I tend to go into defend mode Fortunately the forum is well enough moderated that true trouble makers are removed anyway
