What I listen to most of the time, in order of importance...

1) Elliott Smith (One of the best singer - songwriters of all time)
2) Cake
3) Joseph Arthur
4) The Beatles
5) Simon and Garfunkel
6) John Lennon / Yoko Ono (Post - Beatles)
7) Bright Eyes
8) Death Cab for Cutie
9) Wilco
10) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
11) Rufus Wainwright
12) Assorted Modern War Protest (30 years from now, we'll be looking back on this music as the youth subculture, I promise you. If you have not taken the time to listen to it, no matter what your political views, I highly suggest you get a couple songs. )

It's all about the lyrics.

How could you not love this song:

Quote:
Let us be lovers we'll marry our fortunes together
I've got some real estate here in my bag
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner's pies
And we walked off to look for America
Cathy I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh
Michigan seems like a dream to me now
It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw
I've gone to look for America
Laughing on the bus playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said be careful his bowtie is really a camera
Toss me a cigaret I think there's one in the raincoat
We smoked the last one an hour ago
So I looked at the scenary she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field
Cathy I'm lost I said though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
They've all come to look for America
All come to look for America
Now, that's real music.

Since we're doing some lyrics I thought I'd put on here one that I listen to often at work, especially when things become almost too much and I've had to become the person that I would rather not be. I LOVE Metallica

Where do I take this pain of mine
I run but it stays right by my side

So tear me open, pour me out
These things inside they scream and shout
And the pain still hates me
So hold me until it sleeps

Just like a curse, just like a stray
You feed it once and now it stays
Now it stays

So tear me open, but beware
There’s things inside without a care
And the dirt still stains me
So wash me until I’m clean

It grips you so hold me
It stains you so hold me
It hates you so hold me
It holds you so hold me
Until it sleeps...

So tell me why you’ve choosen me
Don’t want your grip
Don’t want your greed
Don’t want it

I’ll tear me open, make you gone
No more can you hurt anyone
And the fear still shakes me
So hold me until it sleeps

I don’t want it.....no

And the other I listen to often......... I know, real downers but ohhh sometimes so very true under the surface of the every day "normal" world.

When a man lies he murders
Some part of the world
These are the pale deaths which
Men miscall their lives
All this I cannot bear
To witness any longer
Cannot the kingdom of salvation
Take me home

Ooohh Crossfire I LOVE Metallica, and now you've made me crave them something terrible.

Here's my alltime favorites:

Type O Negative (Number one fav of all time)
Rob Zombie (anything he's done is genius)
Metallica

Here's some I'm into right at the moment but are likely to change:

Breaking Benjamin
The Killers
Pretty much anything with Lil Jon in it

Here's some of my favorite lyrics by Type O Negative in the song "12 Black Rainbows":

Idle hands may be the devil's work
But idle minds, you see, are so much worse
Too much pity spent, and wasting time
Irresponsibility not my only crime

And they only get better!!!!! I LOOOOVE Type O!!!!!!

So now that I've raved about my music, uh, sorry.............

Ooh, I have found my kind! Wingedfoal, I love Type O.

I'd type up a list of favorite bands, but I am too lazy to do that this late at night.
