Depends on your place of residency; many local ordinances, state laws and countries have laws against it, it is legal here in my county but there are several counties in my state that have local ordinances making it against the law.

And maybe it depends on what kind of animal? I don't care if my next-door neighbor buries his pet in the backyard as long as it's not a horse. The noise of the backhoe would be a little irritating!

I think you would have to check where you live if you can or not.... Iam sure I would have no problem burying our rodents/birds in the back yard but I do think my dogs would be a different story. Just Taz alone he's the size of a miniture pony so I really couldn't see that being allowed, maybe if you live on a farm or something.

I don't think Nevada is that picky. Heck I lived IN las vegas, on a horse property where they raised paints. I know there was a horse or two, buried out in the arena they had.

On this particular property, we have a couple cats buried, several smaller animals.. I don't think there are any dogs here. I prefer cremating these days. I'm sure not going to call the police if I see a neighbor burying their pet. That would be pretty darn cold of me.

Interesting to bring that up.. I might do a bit of reading on it, but all areas vary, I am sure.

When my 13 year old Chihuahua goes to rainbows bridge, you can bet I'm giving her a proper funeral right in my back yard. I don't think anyone will be knocking on my door wanting to excavate my yard to see if I did or not. I've always burried my dogs in the yard.

Ferrets in barrels

My cousin Kel has raised a lot of ferrets through the years. She buries them in those half barrel planters with lots of flowers and little markers for who's where. They have traveled with her during all her moves!LOL
