One More Dog Left

Mama Princess is getting spayed tomorrow. Send out good vibes and this will be the last time thank God. I'm soooooooo sticking to already fixed pound puppies like Pepe for the next dog I get hopefully But its like people dump dogs on me before they do in shelters and I end up with the vet bills and fixing. But I don't regret having them dump on me, better situation than they were in, but I just wished they came UTD on shots and FIXED.

I need a bumper sticker on my forehead that says ''i'm NOT a dog rescue''......I'd love to take in all the animals that need of a home but I'm not Noah's Ark either.......and I don't have the money to afford it either. I don't understand why people don't get that? But then you see the condition the animal is in and its hard to say no......and rehoming it......thus my weakness. You get soooo attached in a matter of days. I know I'll be the worst foster parent ever lol.

Its like people are like always saying 'wow you have four dogs, how do you manage?', but are always the one who end up dumping their ONE dog who they can't manage. But then the go get another and you're just left puzzled and furious. A different dog is NOT the answer.

I feel sometimes my FOUR DOGS are more well-kept then some people around here with ONE dog, and thats just shameful.

Pepe is my ONLY ever brought dog. I've had mixes and PUREBREDS from people getting rid of their dogs. I've had expensive cockatiel birds w/ CAGES dumped on me.....its ludacris.

I'm still in shock on how someone can dump a purebred dachshund with a bed, collar, food bowls, and a tank top to a random stranger? I mean that dog must of cost a whole bunch and those items were not cheap,,,,and besides some accidents Princess is the PERFECT dog......but I guess not as up to the standards of their yorkie they have at home or not small enough anymore for the carrier bags like their yorkie? The accidents? Gone with simple crate training. People get into dogs and then are too lazy to take care for them? I mean if I dished out so much money on a dog, better be sure this dog will be here to stay. Even if the didn't cost anthing. People need to understand dogs are a commitment for a LIFETIME.

Not till they grow into adults or start having behavioral problems.
I think like parenting skills class, the school system needs to add a pet ownership class too, so we won't have so much naive pet owners out there and they'll KNOW what they'll getting into.

I know what you mean about the dogs....only with me, people don't dump dogs on me (although some people have tried), but pocket pets. I've rescued three hamsters, a Guinea Pig, and a ferret. The ferret was the only one I didn't keep, but that was because I didn't have time to properly litter train a kit. But you just can't turn them away, espeically when their alternative is "released into the wild" or dumped at a shelter.

Sending you good vibes for your last spay! It was really neat when Pheobe was spayed because the Dr. (my boss) let me assist the surgery so I was able to see it done. Perks of working in a vet clinic, I suppose!

I hear where you're coming from there. It seems like everyone around me is always getting rid of their animals, and I usually end up taking them in, as I don't want to see them end up in our local animal shelter.... it's already overcrowded as it is, and if it gets too full then some of the animals will be put down. Soooo, I usually end up taking in a lot of unwanted pets, and finding them good homes. Heck, i've taken in cats, dogs, rabbits, rats, hamsters, birds, snakes, even sugar gliders. I totally agree with you that more people need to understand that animals are a lifetime commitment. They are living creatures, not just items that can be tossed away when they outgrow their cuteness. If only more people would put everything into perspective BEFORE they got a pet, and looked ahead into the future before adopting an animal on whim.... I think there would be a lot less homeless animals out there.

Best of luck with your spay surgery! I hope everything goes well!
