Lucky Stuff
Well last night Lucky was not feeling well. I discovered he had an abscess on the opposite side from normal. It was actually where the very first one was from 3 years ago. It blew out this morning before I could take him to the vet. I took him in anyways just to make sure they had it on record and to see what else can be done. Well Dr. O has been working on him for these past years, he knows his stuff....great vet. Dr. Patton is a veteran of the office I mean he's way older and kinda is retired but since they got rid of that woman vet whom I disliked Dr. Patton has been back. Lucky for us today, Dr. Patton looked at Lucky. He suggested some x-rays. When he came back from looking them over he told me that Lucky had been shot a few times with a pellet gun, but that was not the cause of the abscesses. Also he asked me if Lucky was lame in the leg and I told him that I knew his leg was gimp and when he runs you can tell but otherwise he gets around just fine. He told me that down the road something would need to be done cause his hip is messed up badly. I knew his knee was messed up too (on that same side). Not only that but he said there was a bad spot in his spin. After hearing all this I wanted to break down and cry. I didn't until I got in the car. How could someone do this to such a sweet dog, and how can he be so sweet after having all this done to him?
So I have two options now. One have Lucky PTS (Thats the LAST Resort!!!). Second he needs to be looked at more throughly. He needs an ultrasound done. This can only be done up at Stillwater (which is about two hours north of me) and is gonna cost me an arm and a leg (but only from the kneecap down). I am going to get this done asap. I cant afford it right now but I'm about to get at least a part time job I don't care what it is I just want my dog fixed. The ultrasound is only the first step. Dr. Patton said they may find something and be able to just go in and fix it. He also said he has known cases where they have done hours of surgery and not been able to help the dog. I have faith that they can fix him. Wow my baby boy has been through so much in his life. I just want the rest of his existence to rock and be fun. I will do whatever it takes to make sure he has a long happy life. Now if anyone would like to donate money to the Fix Lucky Fund let me know. I'll take your pennies, spare change, one dollar...ANYTHING!!! |

Oh Geez! I can't believe anyone would do that to a dog either.
Poor Lucky. I'm so sorry he has to go through all this and even more sorry you have to spend every last cent. I know how difficult that can be, even when you're working. Cass. |

How could anyone be so thoughtless as to do something so cruel to a dog?
Poor Lucky's having a rough time, it sounds like. I truely hope you are able to conjure up enough money to go ahead with the ultrasound (and surgery if needed). ![]() |

That's really sad, the poor boy. I wish you the very best of luck in getting Lucky better.
Maybe you could set up some kind of benefit thing to raise money for Lucky's vet bills? That has been done several times within the past couple years here where I live, and it has been a big help. Just a though.... best of luck! ![]() |
