Kaiyah is on K-9 Advantix. My question is can it harm the baby if he pets or plays with kaiyah or if i pet Kaiyah and then handle my son. I normally wash my hands before pickinghim up or touching him anyway. I know there are great side effects of pesticides around childeren. But can it transfer from Kaiyah to my son.??

I don't think so either. If it could, they'd probably say on the box. I put Frontline on our dogs, and I handle them and pet them (and so does my 4yr old sis), and I, nor she, has ever gotten sick from it.

I can only say that the topical is 44% Permethrin which are natural extracts made from flowers of chrysanthemum plants.
Chrysanthemums are poisonous so it wouldn't be my top choice to use on an animal or one that comes in direct contact with small children ( I lean more towards natural remedies and just about any man made product for fleas and ticks will contain Permethrin ) BUT it would take a huge dose to cause anything other than eye irritation which would be the case with just about any product used. Personally, unless the child was in direct contact with the chemical while it was still wet on the dog or the child was literally chewing on the dog it wouldn't overly concern me. jmo Great idea Carrie! ![]() |

I am not sure about it being toxic or anything but some people can be very sensitive to it. The first time a put it on my dog I broke out in a rash everytime she came near me for nealy 2 weeks. I tried it a second time just to make sure but sure enough it happened again.
Like Sonja, I tend to stick to the natural methods of flea nad tick control. There was a post a couple of weeks ago that contains some of those natural techniques. |

I agree to ask the professional! I do believe that once it is dry there is no harm to us but I would want to double check since a small child is involved. As we all know small children just love to put their hands in their mouths constantly.

yeah, as of right now, I do wash my son after any contact with Kaiyah. I also wash my hands before I touch my son. i do not think it can harm him if I amnot putting it directly on him and he is not in contact with Kai when it is still wet. but I'd rather be safe than sorry. least til i find out for sure. He has a Doc. Appt. this weel so I am going to ask then to. Never thought of the pharmacist, but I will ask them too. Thanks.!!
