Haven't been around much lately...

Hey all, I've been a bit more quiet than usual lately because I just got all my vaccinations for my trip (back) to Africa this year. Oh My Gods!!

I went in for two and ended up getting FIVE!!
Two in one arm and three in the other. I've been sick all week and my left arm (the one that got three) is so sore and red and burning hot it looks awful. On top of that I've had bad headaches on and off as well (which I can't take much in the way of pain meds for...for medical reasons that have nothing to do with my vaccinations).

Anyway...I'm assured this is all normal and of course it's much better than getting some horrible disease when I'm overseas again (in 13 weeks!!

Anyhoo..that's been my drama. I'll let you know more about my new trip closer to the date.

Sorry to hear about that. But Africa should be awesome! You must be so excited

Whereabouts in Africa will you be going?

I'm very excited. More excited than last time (Cass is going overseas!!) because I'm going on my own this time (last year I went with my parents). I'll be going to Tanzania for a community project and then back to Kenya (where I went last year) to visit a friend for a week.

I wish it was tomorrow because I've been waiting for it for about 9 months so far.

Well at least it is all for a fabulous cause!!

I can't believe how fast the time has gone, it seems to me like you just got back last week. How nice it would be to have friends all around the world!

I know! I can't believe it's been this long either. You know Jesse has been gone a whole year now? I couldn't believe that either. His 'anniversary' was on the 5th of June.

Oh well...on to happier things (or else I may cry). My trip is going to be fantastic. I'm staying almost a month this time. I leave Sydney on the 10th of September and get back to Sydney on the 1st of October. I'll be visiting (amongst other places) Ngorongoro National Park and (in Kenya) Nairobi National Park (I hope...if my friend has arranged it for me LOL).

That is so hard to imagine that Jesse's been gone a year...

It's been 9 years since I lost my pup (which I can't believe).

Eek, sorry about the shots. I'm still dreading when I have to get my tetnus shot (actually think I am overdue, but shhhhhhh!)...if I had to get five, I think I'd cry. Hope you get feeling better soon!

Time will fly and you'll be on your way to Africa again before you know it!

If I had to have all those shots in order to go anywhere, I'd be staying home!

I wish you a speedy recovery from those shots, and hopefully you don't have the side effects that could put you in the hospital. Did you get that many the last time you went? I don't remember you talking about that.
I miss my Delsi who passed last Sept. too.
Anyway, I hope you have a fantastic vacation in Africa. It sounds like a wonderful adventure.

DEFINATELY! And this time I'll take a lot more and I'll be taking a heck of a lot of digital photos to upload quickly for you guys. Nah, having all those shots and suffering a week with illness is much better than getting malaria or yellow fever or polio or Hep A/B. I don't mind the shots at all. I just hate feeling sick and losing days of work. LOL Believe me....the shots are worth the wonderful experience of seeing these places.

I didn't get any shots or malaria tablets last time I went.

It was a huge gamble but I knew nothing about going overseas and my parents had planned everything so I thought I was covered for every eventuality. Fortunately Kenya was not on the list of places that you needed a medical record of vaccinations etc... to get back into Australia afterwards. So we didn't have a problem. Tanzania, however is. So I need my little yellow book from the doctors in order to be let back home afterwards.

I'm finalizing everything next week and sending off for my visas, so after I've done all of that I'll come back and tell you all about what I'm doing over there and show you some links to places I'm going.

I'm very sorry to hear that the shots are making you sick, that's gotta' suck! But, i'm very glad to hear that you'll be going to Africa!

I've always wanted to visit there myself, maybe i'll actually get to do that someday lol. I'm sure you'll have a great time while you're there.
