Talena and the Walk
This morning around 3 or 4 am I was woke by the sound of an animal heaving ready to puke. I opened my eyes and Talena vomited on my bedroom floor. When I cleaned it up it was a big hard piece of a nylabone. I had got rid of that thing a day or so ago so I guess it had been sitting in her tummy. I'm thinking this would explain why yesterday on the walk she kept eating all the plant life she could. She was like a little cow gnawing away at the grass.
We went for our walk this morning and Talena kept walking in and out of the grass. I noticed that all the sudden she was favoring her left leg. I stopped immediately and looked at the bottom of her right foot. There was a burr in her pad. Looked like this: Poor baby! I didn't want it stuck in my finger so I had to gently handle it. I yanked it out super fast and she yelped like someone had just stabbed her in the foot. LOL Big baby! Today we almost ran over a tarantula. I saw it just in time to get the kids away from it. I'm not scared of them cause they are actually pretty docile unless you mess with them. I didn't want the kids to sniff at it and make it mad. They didn't even have time to notice it was there. It was a very pretty spider none the less. Another cool thing is today I was able to have all three leashes in one hand and I was not getting pulled at all. They have made 100% improvement on walking. I'm a proud parent. |

Congrats on your well-behaved pups! Thats always a relief
Ick on the burr thing. But ooo I love tarantulas, you're lucky to have them where you live. In Canada, the biggest spider is the icky dock spider What kind of tarantula, do you know? |

Sounds like you had a really interesting day! Glad that it all worked out well in the end. Those burrs are just horrible. I live in Michigan right now, but we lived out in Kansas several years back.... and those burrs were everywhere. They are horrible, and they sting like heck too. I once fell off of a bike into a whole patch of those, didn't feel too nice lol. Poor Talena!!!! Tarantulas are cool! The only place that i've ever seen one was in a zoo lol. We don't have any big spiders up here.
Anyways, glad your walks have improved! ![]() |

Good work on the leash walking!!
Those burrs are nasty, my sister's yard is full of them and River manages to find them all every single time we go around there so he's stuck inside now!! |
