R.I.P. Baby Girl

Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I am doing much better about things. I still think and talk about her a lot, but I can talk about her and smile and appreciate her. I get sad when I think of the attack, and how she looked then, but it helped me to know that she wanted to go, and I try not to think about that part becuase I don't want to remember her like that.
I turned into one of those obnoxious dog people and I carry around a photo album of her . I have been keeping myself really busy. I went with my friend to her dog trainers, and she is looking for someone to help her, so I am going to go meet her later on this week. The neighboor at the horse farm want me too work with his little colt too, so I will have plenty to do. I think I am going to start looking for another dog too. Our house seems so empty, and I always feel like I am forgetting something....becuase I took Mandi everywhere. I am not in any hurry, but I just can't live without a dog. |

I'm glad to hear that you're starting to feel a little better. I know it's really hard to lose a beloved pet. I always try to keep very busy when i'm dealing with something like that, it usually does help some. I wish you the very best!

Its good to see you back! I was wondering how you were! Glad to hear you are doing better! I carry around pictures of Zen too! And he is my cell phone wallpaper and my desktop wallpaper..and pretty my wallpaper for everything lol. I don't know what its like to lose a dog and not have any other dogs around, that must be really hard! I had my other dogs to turn to and keep me company..and spend time with. SO it was a bit easier to cope than to be dogless! Just make sure you are ready, and have gone through all the stages of mourning first!! Sometimes getting another dog too soon can be rough!

It's really nice to hear from you, Sam!
I think you're dealing with all of this in such a mature way, it's very inspiring. |

It's great to hear from you again. Again I am so sorry for your loss. It really helps when you loose a dog to get one of a completely differen't breed/personality/color. It helped me at least. If I even saw a dog that resembled Zoe it would make me cry. It also helped that I had 3 other dogs to keep me busy.

Thanks! Mandi is also my wallpaper on my cell phone, and I also recorded her barking for my ring tone, and I have a little recording of her speaking once for when I get texts and things *rolls eyes.*
The first few days were really really hard. I think what made it really hard what that I went back to work, and I had to tell everyone there. In the end, I think talking about it so much made it a lot easier. It also wasn't like I layed around and was sad that she died, then went back to "normal life" and got sad again when I realized she really wasn't coming back (does that make sense? lol). I sort of took it all at once. I didn't eat an actual meal until lunch on friday, and I couldn't sleep a night, so then I was always so tired. Then when I started to do stuff, it seemed like I got tired so quick. I never would have guessed how physically draining something like this was. Anyway, it is so much better now, and I get sad when I think about it sometimes, but it isn't so....intense. I haven't actually cried for 2 days!! The emergency vet gave us this little 'pet greiving' book, and it also helped a lot to read that, and know that a lot of other people feel the same way and that it is normal to get so upset. It also gave me hope that things actually DO get better! ![]() At the begining of the week, someone had asked me if I was getting another dog, and I just couldn't even imagine it. At first I didn't want it to look anything like Mandi, or be anything like Mandi. Then I started looking at breeds (the ones that would fit in with our lifestyle) and I still can't find one that is as perfect for our family as the maltese. The problem is....all maltese look pretty darn similar . As the days keep coming though, I think I will have no problem with it and will be able to see a new dog for just that--a different dog. Thanks for listening to me ramble! lol |
