New Puppy!

I'm not sure if you all remember, but about a week or so ago, I had posted that I was puppy-sitting my friends American Pit Bull Terrier puppy, Jager, while she was away....

Well, as of last night little Jager is officially my new puppy! My friend got back home on Saturday, and on Sunday afternoon she did come pick him up. When she brought him back home, her mom was really mad and told her she had 1 day to find him a new home (she already knew that she had to find him a new home, just not that soon), and her step dad was also coming home that day. He was really upset that the puppy still hadn't found a home. Which is soooo sad because my friend loves the little guy so much. It really sucks that so many people hate Pit Bulls the way that they do. Anyways, my friend called me, and asked if I could take Jager.... she couldn't find anyone else who would take him. If he didn't find a home that day, there was no other choice but to take him to the local animal shelter. I fear that he would have been put to sleep there, since not many people around here like Pit Bulls at all. My mom had said "NO Pit Bull!" because she was afraid that he would become aggressive, but after several hours of talking with her about the situation, she finally caved and said he could stay lol. I'm really happy becuase I just love this puppy, and I have wanted to get a Pit Bull for a very long time. My family had always been afraid of them. Girl and Chewy are both part Pit Bull, but they are mixed with several things, and both look more like Labs than anything else. This is also wonderful, because my friend will still be able to see him all of the time! I'm trying to think of a new name for him too. I love this little guy, I just don't like the name Jager (spoken yag-er) lol. I'm considering possibly changing his name from Jager (yag-er) to Jagger (jag-er) because it's so close to his name. I have some other ideas bouncing around in my head, but nothing that I feel really fits him. Suggestions are welcome!

I'm glad you were able to take in Jager. I hate that people are threatened by things they don't understand or by stereotypes. Reminds me of the saying "Knowledge Replaces Fear". I hope you find a better name for that pup cause Jager, the drink, taste nasty LOL and I'm sure that's not a nasty pup you have there. Name him something sweet

Gosh her parents sound annoying! Sorry, just had to say that! It's lucky that you were able to take in Jager, though... because with such little notice given to your friend, the little guy could have ended up anywhere!

Glad you were able to give that puppy a home! I can't imagine how irritating it must be to have parents that don't like animals... I'm so glad my parents love animals like I do!

Looking forward to lost of updates with pictures!

Congrats on the new pup! My parents are scared of pitties too but if they met one that was nice i'm sure they would accept it. That little pup is sooo cute I wish you many happy years with him and I can't wait to see more pictures!

Congrats on your new addition!

My mom is also leary of Pitties (and any bully type dog...Bulldogs, Boxers, Rotties...). She was even nervous around Sasha when she was here and Sasha was a doll. Which I really do find ironic as her favorite breed of dog is a Saint Bernard and they can do no wrong. *shakes head* She doesn't like the bully breeds because they are big and powerful...what the heck is a Saint Bernard? A cotton ball?

I agree, it always upsets me to hear people who hate dogs just because of their breed. What I don't understand is this, my friends mom loves Boxers, and my friend has 2 Boxers. Yet, her family is totally unwilling to give a Pit Bull a chance, and it's just sad. Anyways, i'm still working on a new name for the baby lol. Maybe Mac???? Who knows, it always takes me a while to choose a name for a puppy. I'm even worse with registered names because they are longer and such lol. I'll keep you guys updated with pictures!
