Talking My next overseas adventure! (updated!)

Well I'm off again OS in around 11 weeks time. I leave from Sydney on the 10th of September and I head off once again to Africa.
This time I'm going to Tanzania for a community project. It's the same kind of project I did last year, fixing up a school, but with one little difference....I'll be on my own! Last year I was lucky enough to be taken along by my parents, this year I worked my little butt off to pay for everything myself and am going it alone. It's scary but exciting at the same time.
Some people fromt he last project have confirmed that they will be on this one so I guess, really I'm not totally alone. LOL

Originally I was flying Emirates airlines (which we flew last time and LOVED), but after booking everything I was contacted by the company I'm going through (World Expeditions) and they informed me that right before I paid Emirates put their prices up over $500 and I'd have to pay that.
But they thought that was ridiculous and so they found an alternative for anyone who wants it, using the same airlines that their staff fly.
So...originally I was flying from Sydney to Dubai to Nairobi to Kilimanjaro. But NOW, I'm lucky enough to fly from Sydney to Bangkok to Nairobi to Kilimajaro, after that it's a 40 min drive to Arusha where I will spend the night in a hotel with the other volunteers and then in the morning we're off to Soko Village, where we will be doing the project.

eTravelPhotos.com :: Travel photos from Tanzania, Africa. Pictures of Around Kilimanjaro, Lake Victoria, Ngorongoro Crater, The Serengeti, Zanzibar. _ This is Tanzania.

After the project we will be going to several places, one of those places is the Ngorongoro Crater.

After Tanzania, I'll fly back to Nairobi where I will spend a week with a friend of mine. Not sure what the plans are...I guess I'll let you know when I get back. LOL

On the way back I get a WHOLE DAY, and night, stop over in Bangkok. I'm really looking forward to this as I've never been there (only been to Dubai and Kenya so far). So that, along with TZ, will be another country I can tick off. LOL Even if I'm only going to be there for a day.

Bangkok Photos - over 600 large pictures taken in 2005 & 2006

This is the hotel I'm staying in...the Siam Design.
Bangkok hotels Siam at Siam Design hotel Thailand Siam Square Siam at Siam Design hotel photos

After that it's back home again and time to plan my next adventure. I'm thinking South America or Thailand next year. Maybe somewhere else...who knows?

Cass.

That sounds totally cool! Sadly, I have never been out of the United States...been clear across the country, but never left our good ol' North American continent.

Funny, because if I go over seas I'd like to go to New Zealand or Australia. LOL

It is exciting. I can't wait and I was just looking at a calender today and I think I have less time to wait for it than I thought. I think it's around 9 weeks actually. WooHoo!

You should definately go on that trip. My advice is to start saving money now. Just open up a seperate bank account and put some money in there every week or fortnight or even every month. Believe me, it's worth it! Once you've been overseas, you're eyes are open to the world and you'll never be the same again.

Cass.

That has got to be exciting for you. I have never been out of New England (Northeast USA) my entire life. I like to go to all the states. I would love to go to Australia, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, India, South Africa, New Zealand. Basically, all over the place. Where did you go the last time you went to Africa? I cannot remember.

Sounds like lots of fun! I would be scared to travel by myself though. You gonna get a doggie friend after you get home?

Dave...I went to Kenya last time, so Tanzania will be a new experience.

Paws...They are beautiful pictures. I'm so excited to go, you're right...words can't explain. You should definately start saving to go. It's worth it. Going last year was the best thing I've ever done in my life. I'm totally addicted to it and have a list of places I want to go (the US is even on that list...but just to meet my GP friends ).

Lindsey...It is kinda scarey knowing I'll be on my own, but I guess everyone has to be at some point.
And yes, I WILL be adding a doggy to my life after I get back. Probably be next year maybe the later half (although I'd like it to be sooner). I wanted to get another one this year but I had to move because of my new job and traineeship. Oh well...life is like that sometimes.

Cass.

I really hope the next 9 weeks don't drag by too slowly for you Cass. Just know you're going to have a great time and can't wait to see the photos when you get back either.

Even more exciting that you'll be looking to add a dog to the family in the foreseeable future as well, it's going to be one lucky pooch whoever it is!!

That's so exciting! I'm very happy for you! I hope you have a wonderful trip.

I've never been outside of the USA either, although i've been to many places in the states. I'd love to go to Africa or Australia.... maybe someday i'll be lucky enough to be able to take a trip like that lol. I'm hoping, anyways!

Well I'm off in a couple of days. It's Sunday night here as I type this and I leave on Wednesday. I can't believe it's time already.
I'll try and post a final goodbye from Sydney airport on Wed. but I can't guarantee it.

So incase I don't get back on after tomorrow I'll say an official goodbye to everyone (for now, not permanently LOL).

See you all when I get back!!!!!!! I'm taking two digital cameras this time so no having to wait to develop anything and then not having a scanner to scan them in.

Can't wait to share the details of my trip with everyone when I get back. I'm so scared, but WAY more excited.

Cass.

Hope you have a blast Cass! But I'm sure that's a given. LOL

Be safe, have fun (sounds kinda weird having safe and fun in the same sentence...hahaha), and get lots and lots and lots of pics. Can't wait to hear about how your trip went and see the beautiful pics I know you're going to get!

So jealous......again.
