I've always had more than one dog at a time, and i've never really had any serious problems. My dogs get along well. As stated above, almost all problems can usually be worked out. Just make sure let the dogs meet on neutral ground.

We had Zoe first, then we adopted Bear. They get along really well, they are both pretty well behaved dogs. Last year I brought Ailchu into the family. At first, Zoe absolutely refused to be in the same room with him, and sometimes she would randomly attack him, but now for the most part they get along pretty well. Bear and Ailchu either get along great, or have these snarly fights that take at least two of us to break up. I think Ailchu is still finding his place.
