How does he do it?
Well we have had Dudley for a little over a year now, and a lot of his "issues" have gotten better, he listens better, ect, but he still needs lots of work as he is just a bossy stubborn mutt, lol. One of the things that still needs a lot of work is the drop it command. Some things he does drop when asked but when it comes to playing fetch, forget it. I think some of our earlier "new dog owner" attempts have caused him to think keep away is part of the game. He loves playing ball, but doesn't like to give it up. Well Dudley and my youngest son Cameron (2) have been best friends since day one, and I always said when Cameron starts talking Dudley will listen to his commands, and today I was proven right. I went to get a hair cut along with my oldest tonight and my husband and Cameron played outside with Dudley and my husband told me the best way to have Dudley drop his ball is to have Cameron ask. All Cameron has to do is say "Dudley ball please" and Dudley drops it everytime. Silly dog.

So cute!
![]() Chloe still has issues with the drop it command...I'll refuse to play tug and will turn my back and walk away if she doesn't release the ball when told. Sometimes she still won't release it so I just completely ignore her and end the play session, since her chewing on the ball just out of my reach is the point of the game anyways. She doesn't need my help to play it. When I really want to tire her out I'll grab two balls and have a bit of a reley. She chases one and brings it back, spits it out, and I throw the other one. She loves it because it is nonstop running for her. |
