OMG I can't tell you how excited I am. Today I received a call from my vet, Dr. O, here in town. He contacted OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences (it is part of Oklahoma State University and they work on all kinds of creatures even ones for the zoo). Anyways They have the equipment needed to figure out what is wrong with Lucky! They also have a great reputation for getting animals in great health.
They consulted with my vet this morning and called me back. We have an appointment for July 28th. This is a two hour trip for us. They told me they were going to examine him and if he is a candidate for surgery he will stay the night and have it the next day. I have such high hopes that they can help my baby. Keep us in your prayers that all goes well. I hope to get his leg checked out too since he will be there anyways. His leg and hip was crushed (before I found him) and never fixed or tended to so it may be a major issue. In case you don't know the story here is what I knew back when I got him. There have been more revelations since, like he was shot at least three times and his teeth were still there they were just rotted to nubs. He has had so many surgeries for the abcesses I cant count, plus just going in for draining. http://www.globalpaw.com/forum/globa...ckys-tale.html (Lucky's Tale) Wow I thought this day would never come. Three years of these abscesses may soon be a thing of the past. ![]() I love my Lucky boy and just want the best for him. I hope they can fix him. I will keep you all updated of course ![]() ![]() |

Ooooh! How awesome is that! Best of luck to you with that! I hope they can pin point just exactly what it is, and he can get rid of whatever's causing it..
What a wonderful vet you have... Did they call them on their own? Or did you already request/they plan to call them? |

Well we went today and OMG the bill was insane. I literally just spent my savings on Lucky. Seriously! But Wow he is having surgery tomorrow and I'm a nervous Nelly. They don't know what is causing the abscesses but they showed me his ct scan and it is scary. I wish I could show it to ya. On each side of his spine and his major artery and major nerve is a huge pocket of junk. They are going to go in through his abdomen push everything (stomach, intestines and such) to one side and find one pocket search through it, hopefully find something get it out and be done. Then move everything to the other side and do the same thing. He will be there for around a week. They gave me a 50/50 chance of finding and fixing.
I miss him already and I just got home from the trip. It sucks he will be missing my Birthday this Wednesday. Please please please keep him in your prayers. They are suppose to call me right before his surgery, after his surgery, and when he wakes from the anesthesia. The Doctor told me if anything changes or happens he will call me even if its 3 am. I told him YES PLEASE DO!!! I gave him every possible number I could be reached at. Can you tell Im freakin out? Oh and his leg is going to have to have surgery down the road too. They were all amazed that his leg healed to where it could be used. His hip was dislocated and knee broken. The muscles made a makeshift socket for the hip bone. The hip bone built up and has to be cut down and a new/better makeshift hip socket needs to be made a bit lower on his body. Doctor said Lucky will have pain from this down the road and it will never be 100% or near that but it can be improved. I need to start him on glucosamine when he gets home. I better research that.... Okay I am freakin out too much and need to go chill. I just drove 8 hours today and I'm exhausted! |

wow! I really hope they find the problem! I am so sad that he was abused in his past. I just don't understand people. He is so lucky to be with you! I know many many people who wouldn't even try with him.
