Hey all,
I was just curious if anyone had an inside line on where I could get an idea of constructing my own agility course in my backyard. The yard is completly fenced and measures about 70'x90'. I have seen the adjustable weave poles for sale, and I'm sure I could come up with my own hurdles using some household items. Beyond that, are there any official measurements or safety precautions i'd want to follow? Crash helmets? Airbags? Kevlar? I dunno, any and all suggestions would be welcome.Thank you, -Shmee |

I'm just starting out but I've been teaching commands on various "equipment" found around the house. My little guy uses props made from my daughters toys (tunnels and jumps), outdoor furniture, building materials (dog walk is cinderblocks with wood wedges) and hula hoops from WalMart. I haven't tried weave poles yet but I was thinking of making some from PVC on stakes so I can move them about as needed. I've seen some great "dog guides" for the weave poles, one was made out of garden hose connected with a PVC "T", the second was made from plastic garden mesh just hot glued to the PVC.
If you're looking for more complex or official equipment, maybe someone else will have more info for you. |

You should be able to get all the relevant measurements for equipment from the body responsibile for governing agility in your country.
If you're having trouble though let me know and I can find you a link to the Australian website as I assume there wouldn't be too much difference between the equipment specifications. |
