Tefnut the Sweet Heart
Most of you know who Tefnut is by knowing she is the dog that recently gave birth to 9 beautiful Pharaoh Hound Pups and is very well accomplished in most of the events i put her through. I often call her miss perfect around here because im sure that thats probley what the other dogs call her behind her back lol.
Well last year she showed us she wasent just a fast dog with a pretty Face she was a Sweet Heart when it comes to helping others. Last Spring I was visiting my parents and brought Tefnut, Hemet, and Issy with me for a visit and a nice run on the beach (my parents live on the beach). Tuffy started whining at the door like she had to "go". So I let her out neither Hemet or Issy wanted to go. All of a sudden I heard yips and barks and I looked out to see Tuffy running along the beach playing with a dirty little mutt puppy. I was alittle worried about it though not know if the pup was sick or anything. When i called Tuffy to me the pup came up to me as well she was very friendly and cute and looked to me like it had some Border Collie in her with medium length fur. It was matted but she was pretty though. My parents could'nt take her their older and already have an older dog an old Chi named Smokey but they could'nt take on a puppy especially one with the energy level of this pup and Smokey wasent good with dogs he did'nt know. They agreed to feed and give her water and keep an eye on her until we found her a new home. I could'nt take her Ma'at had just had a litter and it was just a hectic time not that i don't still wish I could bring her home with me. My Parents called her Daisy but really wern't her biggest fan and they said she would dissappear for days and then return stinking of dead fish. They could'nt tie her because she would either throw a fit dig or chew her way loose. My parents live on a Private beach and have neigbors of course. Everyone loved Daisy but no one wanted her but she did wear a collar and tags she had a bunch of different names so they just put Puppy on her tags. She lived this was for a month and a halph like this until my parents got a new neighbor Frank. I now made a point to take Tefnut to play with Daisy and one day Frank came out to visit with them. Frank is in his 60's but rather athletic. He started throwing a ball for both dogs into the ocean. When i came out to say hi he asked if the puppy belonged to me. I told him no that she was actually the "beach dog" and actually really needed a home. To make a already long story alittle shorter Frank in a way adopted Daisy and changed her named to Sophie. Sophie is now a well adjusted pet and doesent wander anymore. She and Tefnut are still the best of mates and love their play dates. I like to think Tefnut was the one who rescued her I think if she hadent of brought Sophie to our attention that day she would have not had a reason to stay on the beach and would have went on and either end up in the pound or worse. There are some pics of Tuffy and Sophie playing on the beach and in the ocean this past summer if you want to see them. ![]() |

What a sweetheart.
That's such a beautiful story, I'm glad 'Sophie' now has a good home. I'd love to see the pictures of them on the beach together. Any excuse to see more doggy pictures (especially ones with pharaoh hounds in them Hehehe! ). Cass. |

Great pics and what a wonderful story!
If it hadn't been for Tefnut and your kindness who knows what would have happened to that pup. |
