Not to get way off topic, but Tash, isn't Riv solo in your house as far as dogs go? That'd answer the question of why there's no aggression to others. Add another dog to the mix and the primal comes out.
Kingpup, as far as catching diseases from dog poop?? Sure, that's not out of the question and neither are shark attacks, lightning strikes, walking on train tracks? Hell wiping one's own butt can be catastrophic without handwashing. I surely hope all of us dogwalkers wash our hands when we get home from walking fido. Where the heck do you put the antibacterial lotion when you're walking more than one dog? (Secondly, how do you apply it with 2jack russells pulling north and south). Here's one you didn't mention, howbout salmonella from bad chicken and raw eggs that sitout for too long. Was I reading something incorrectly or were you advocating raw diets for people too??? ![]() Don't get me wrong, I like my steaks pittsburgh rare and all, but straight out the butcher's paper?? No thanks I just cant do the raw for my crew (let alone me) guys, sorry ![]() -Shmee |

The difference is, wiping your own butt is generally done in a bathroom with immediate access to soap and water! I've found that no matter how careful you are, there are the occasional times outside when you can't help but inadvertently get a little speck of dog poop on your hands while picking up.
This usually happens when the poop is extra extra large and you're turning the bag inside out, when you scrape the bag against something sharp on the sidewalk, or when you're using something as a substitute for a bag, like a small piece of newspaper. As for applying the sanitizer, it's no big deal. I don't walk more than two dogs at a time and it's easy to just slip both leashes over one wrist and apply quickly. Better to be safe than sorry! |

And to get back on topic somewhat, King Pup that's one of the major benefits of having a small dog - the poops are small too so I'm yet to come across a circumstance where it won't fit in the bag!!! |

Yeah, just be thankful you don't have a big old chunky lab - they have the BIGGEST poops in my opinion. I used to walk a Great Pyrenees and everyone would say to me "wow, I bet his poops are gigantic"...but they were very modest in comparison to Henry's, a chocolate lab I once had. He'd poop enough to fill two bags...TWICE in one walk.

Jack Russell's:
(4) plush toys/week? $12.00 (4) $1 Frisbee's from the Dollar store/month? $4.00 (4) Poops/day per 2 dogs the size of a Lincoln Log?PRICELSS! I would guess that if I have to pickup 8ounces of turdz a day? It's alot for 2 JRT's. I would get alittle tired of the Gibraltar sized chunks of steaming death these bigger dogs tend to let go of after the equivalent of a turkey-sized doggy-dinner. Again, I love the big guys, but I cant stand the big mess from the big dogs . Gimmee a football size pooch anyday ![]() -Shmee |

Jack Russels. CRAZY dogs. I walked an old Jack Russel for a while and he would go through phases of eating broken glass. You'd see it sticking out of his poop. He did huge poops and sometimes you'd see a small shard of glass sticking out. The funny thing was, both I and the owners could never work out when he was eating it, no matter how careful or observant we were. I was convinced he was vacuuming it up from the sidewalk on the sly.

I used a poo composter for the couple weeks, I housesat with doggies where that was composting poo was practiced. I was dreading openning the trap door but to my pleasant suprise, there was no odor. The pit was deep and they used enzymes.
As for diseases, just keep the poop and composting poop away from your edibles and kids. Hookworm is the nastiest one I've ever come across. KingPup - Did you mean Toxoplasma parasite or the round worm Toxocara? They both are preventable and manageable in dogs, we control with garlic and nutrition. So we would be low risk. Quote:
