Just a quick reminder
In a few weeks (31 days) cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls. You will be charged for these calls. Call this number from your cell phone 1-888-382-1222. It's the DO NOT CALL list. It only takes a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You can also go on line at; http://www.donotcall.gov

Hey! Thanks for that reminder. My teacher told us about that a couple weeks ago. I don't need any pointless calls to my phone that costs me money!

I wish we had a 'do not call' list down here in Australia.
I hate telemarketers and charities calling. Personally I think it should be illegal, its such an invasion of privacy.Cass. |

we get them here a lot as well, only they don't cost the recipient anything, just the caller. I normally leave the phone on the table and go make a cup of coffee when they phone. After 5 minutes of talking to themselves they normally hang up

I have always added all of my phone numbers (land or cell) to the "no-call" list since it started several years. It is good for a couple of reasons. First if a telemarketer does call you can simply inform them that your number is on the list and that you will report them if they call again. This alone is enough to keep most companies from calling again. If they do decide to call back being on the list allows you to file a complaint and if a certain amount of complaints are received action is taken against the company placing the calls.
The other thing you can do is place a filter on your phone line that intercepts any calls which do not register with a name and number on your caller ID. It plays a message stating why the call has been intercepted and gives them a chance to identify themselves. You can also program in numbers and/or names for it to automatically block. |

if you guys read pugdawgs link it tells you that its a myth.
and im pretty sure the link it right, it is a myth. no telemarketers on cell phones...there will be a new 411 information line for cells, but the company has to opt into it, and at this point Sprint, Nextel, and Cingular are the only ones that chose to opt into it, Verizon hasnt. |
