Trying to decide....
Well, some of you may remember that a while back I had posted that I was going to be bringing a new family member, a female Harlequin Great Dane puppy into my home soon
She's growing very quickly, and I will be able to pick her up this week. My problem is.... there is a very good friend of mine who has wanted a Great Dane for a very long time, she was supposed to be getting a Great Dane puppy from another breeder, however the female had a false pregnancy, so that fell through. She asked me last night, if I would consider allowing her to adopt my new puppy. Although, I have been waiting a very long time for this beautiful little girl.... i'm seriously considering giving her to my friend, since I do work fairly long hours, and I already one puppy, Jager, which requires a lot of training and what not, plus my other babies. My friend lost her 13 year old dog this past spring, and currently has no other dogs. I think it would be very good for her to get another pet. Soooo, i'm just trying to decide, and it's a very hard choice to make. This puppy is just beautiful! Anyways, here's a picture of the beautiful little girl.... ![]() |

Aww she is beautiful!!
Sounds to me as if you've already made up your mind what you're going to do, and I think it's a very selfless thing to do as well. If you do decide to let the puppy go to your friend just make sure it's not something you'll regret later on if for some reason you encounter difficulties getting a pup of your own when you decide the timing is better so the friendship isn't put at risk. |

Yeah, i've already pretty much made up my mind.... after all, I will be able to see the puppy all of the time, and I know that she will have an awesome home! My friend said that it would be alright for me to do a co-own, and show her in the future if I want to, so who knows. Maybe she will be a show dog afterall, pending my schedual.
Although, I no longer have any breeding females (decided to get into rescue more than breeding), I do co-own several dogs with other people, so I will be getting a couple more "pick of litters" over the next several years. This girl is just perfect! In my eyes anyways lol. She's a show marked Harlequin, has one Blue eye and one Brown eye! She has colorpure bloodlines, and the dam beautiful Black half German important, sire is huge American Harlequin boy. She has a great confirmation, so far. She'd be an awesome show dog. But, I will still be able to see her all of the time, and watch her grow up.... that's a big plus! I know she'll bring my friend a whole lot of joy, and I know she'll have a great home there. That's really all that matters! ![]() |

Wow, what a nice gesture..
I think the only thing more beautiful than bringing a dog into your home is helping a friend bring one into theirs. Whatever you decide to do, there is no wrong decision. Ignore your gut and listen to your heart. |

Well, I will be picking her up tomorrow night after I get off work, and my friend is coming to get her from my house. I can't wait to spend some time with her, even though she won't be staying with me.... i'm hoping that everything will go well. Hopefully, she will settle right into her new home. My friend is very excited to see her, since she's never actually met her in person.

It is a very selfless thing that you are doing. What does the person who has the puppies now think about it? I'm not sure I could ever give up a dog that I bonded to like that.

My friend just left my house with the puppy, who she is re-naming Jetta, not so sure I like that lol. Anyways, they seemed to fall in love instantly, and I think it's probably a perfect match. I'm alright with this, only because I know the lady who is adopting the puppy very well, and I am certain that she will have a great home there with her. The lady who has the litter is alright with this placement too, as she is also friends with the lady who is getting the puppy. I guess everything has (in a way) turned out for the best, and i'm very glad to see that the "Jetta" is making my friend so happy.
