Angry Bad day for Spot and Chance

Gosh I hate to say this. Chance and spot are getting aggresive lately. This moring they cornered a man and were growling aggresivly and he said Chance had started it and Spot followed. He had a gun Luckily for the dogs, he didnt shoot them as many people would have done but shot in the air, and they ran away. I dont know what brought this behavior on, but it isnt going to work. He has a little shack that is kinda on or right beside our property and they saw him and I guess they felt threatened or something. Then later on.. I let them out and was riding the four wheeler. They were laying in the garage and I went upstairs to get my ball stuff together since I had ball practice. When I went back out neither one of them were to be found. They stay outside unleashed all the time and we never thought Spot would go anywhere since we have 11 acres. I know it only takes a mintue to be gone.. Anyway about a hour later Chance comes in- without Spot. Now we are worried to death someone has stole him or killed him. We look for about a hour- no results. Its about 5:30. We come home look around some-more. Nothing. Then we go ask everyone in the neighborhood if they have seen him. - Everyone says no. Finally, I call home and ask if he's showed up- They say No, havent seen him. So we are talking and she says Oh! Someone just pulled up and he is in the car with him. I got soo happy. He was veey close to our house... A little ways out in the woods going through garbage.. Ugh. He always comes when he hears the fourwheelers start, but not today. He loves to ride and chase them.. Im just glad we found them and they are okay now. They have to get nuetered very soon.. VERY SOON. Today was just
Adn I missed ball practice..

Oh Erin that must have been scary! I'm glad neither one of the dogs was hurt. I'm glad that that guy didn't shoot the dogs. Shooting would be a "normal" person's reaction because not only was he cornered by dogs, one was a PitBull and the other was a ACD!
I've had a couple of crummy days with our dogs too. The one that was the crummiest was when Loupie (the neighbor's Malamute that lived with us) went over to our new neighbor's house and attacked both of their Labs. And sence Loupie went over, our dogs went over, but they weren't fighting, just barking. But the neighbors whos dogs were attacked threatened to call animal control if our dogs ever did that again, even though technically, the didn't do anything, just barked.
So after that I was paranoid and everytime they'd let their dogs outside, I'd always pen ours up. (This was before we started penning them up full time. Our dogs used to be good and hardly ever got into fights with other loose dogs, but then Blackie and Rose attacked a neighbors Chow/Huskey mix [he wasn't hurt. No bite marks or anything] and they also went after two smaller dogs for no reason, so that is when we got fed up and penned them.)
Anyways, I'm glad everything turned out ok and nobody got hurt.

Yikes! That must've been horrible. I'm glad they're safe, though.

Do you have a fence up?

I know your heart must have been bouncing off your knee caps, especially since the thought of maybe the man with the gun could have killed them. I'm so very glad they are home safe.

Very terrified. No we dont have a fence up. My gma wont put one up. So we will keep Spot on the run line and Chance wont go no where if Spot dont. Im very glad they were okay. I was scared some person had stole Spot for dog fighting purposes.. Very scary feeling.

ACD = Australian Cattle Dog.
You should really put some pressure on your grandmother to put a fence up, but I'm glad they're both ok, too. I can't even begin to imagine how scarey that was, not knowing if they were dead or alive. I'm happy they're home safe with you.

Cass.

I am happy your dogs are OK believe me. I think I am fixing to step on some toes again but everyone is entitled to an opinion. You see how quick something can happen and just because you live on 11 acres doesn't give you the right to allow your dogs to run loose. Maybe you could talk your grandmother into fencing off an area for the dogs. If not and something else like this happens and say the dog did bite someone she would be legally responsible for that incident. I guarantee it would cost more than a fence. I live in a rural area--on the south side of me houses have been built, people have moved in and because they are in the "country" they let their dogs roam. My neighbor across the road has feeder calves and he has gone to everyone and told them this is their one warning--if he catches their dogs chasing his calves then he is going to shoot their dogs. You are going to put one on a tieout and leave the other one loose? It only takes a second. JMHO. Minta

Lindsey- You know my dogs wont bite you.
By the way Vonnisk, If one is tied up (Spot) Chance will not leave without him. I know this for a fact. I cant force my gma to pt a fence up, if she doesnt want one, I cant do anything about it. Spot wont be with us much longer anyway bc my mom is moving back to her house, with her. Anyway, its about time to get them both nuetered.

I'm glad their ok but agree that something needs to change before something does happen, if one is on a tie out why not put them both on one? They are very lucky that they weren't shot.

One may not go without the other but saying it won't ever happen isn't something anyone could be sure of with their dogs. At any rate I'm glad their fine.

Never Say Never.

I don't think it's worth the risk to not tie both out. They may not be so lucky next time.
