What do you like most about your dog(s)?

This was posted on another board, and I thought it'd be interesting to see what people here say. I'll put a more detailed post than I did on the other board, LOL .

Why did you choose your dog(s)?

What do you like about your dog(s)?

What do you dislike about your dog(s)?

Here are moi answers.

Why did you choose your dog(s)?
Colby: We got her from a local shelter. I was pretty young at the time, so I wasn't the one that chose her, really my dad did. He really liked her looks and her temperament.
May: We couldn't let such a sweet dog be euthanized!
Tippy: SHE chose US.

What do you like about your dog(s)?
Colby: I like the fact that she's a really good watchdog, I like that she is very quick and intelligent, and that she is very obedient.
May: I love how sweet she is. You could literally play tug-o-war with her ears and instead of biting you, she'd just sit there wagging her tail.
Tippy: I love her intelligence! She is super smart. I also love that she can be calm one second and be physo two seconds later.

What do you dislike about your dog(s)?
Colby: She can be really weary of people at times, and sometimes she can be very barky.
May: I wish she weren't so scared of loud noises, I hate seeing her upset.
Tippy: She has some dog aggression which we're working on, and while it's getting a ton better, we've still got a bit to go.

Why did you choose your dog(s)?

Daisy- I chose her because she was the only female puppy in the litter. She was born of working lines and was a healthy puppy. She also was the most out going puppy in the bunch
Hooch- I chose him because he was the last puppy left of his litter because he was the "runt" but he was probley and still is the sweetest puppy ever. Funny how he turned out to be huge.
Chili- she was so sweet sitting in that pound in her kennel dropped off because she was a problem puppy. I just looked at her and knew I was her only hope she was litterally on her last days.
Chumba- because I was ready for a challenge and boy was Chumba a promised challenge he was the alfa of his litter and pushed his way right to the front to see me.

What do you like about your dog(s)?

Daisy- her sweet patient nature and her funny wookie noise she makes when she is'nt aloud to go swiming or when we are in the vets office lol.
Hooch- the funny faces he makes and his big heart when it comes to kids. And he love to be cuddled and hugged like a lap dog lol
Chili- her constant shiny outlook on life I only see her sad when play is not alowed. Also like Hooch her love for children (really all my dogs love kids).
Chumba- his stubborness and how i can see those wheels turning in his head. His happy dance when its time for a walk or a car ride lol.

What do you dislike about your dog(s)?
Daisy- nothing really she's really well behaved and i don't mind drool anymore lol
Hooch- when im not home and when i get home i find him laying on my dining room table I me come on?!
Chili- when she get alittle too hyper in the house and starts knocking crap over.
Chumba- when he reverts in his obedience training and decides he would like to challenge me. But i also love him for it......go figure lol

Why did you choose your dog?

Winston ~ he was a gift from my parents when my first pug was killed.

Oscar ~ He just needed a home. Had a family that kept him in a dirt backyard, 24/7, in Las Vegas, year round.

Bentley ~Another pug that needed a home. After being found abandoned along a highway, sitting at a shelter for a week, then having 4 homes in 4 months, it was time he got some stability back in his life.

Raisin Some folks in Idaho contacted me about him, asked me to take him. Their son had really bad allergies, they tried very hard to make it work, but it just didn't for them. They saw me post a lot on a pug site, and asked me if I would take him. And so I drove up there and got the little fella back in April.

What do you like about your dogs?
Winston.. he's my heart dog. My serious mamma's boy. Very intelligent, picks up things fast. He is the only one of the four I raised from a baby, so I think we have an extra solid bond.

Oscar.. he's just my big ole teddy bear. Easy to please! Give him a butt scratch, some food and a soft place to sleep and he's a happy camper.

Bentley.. he's my fetch obsessed pug. He'll play fetch forever. He's sitting here right now, eyeballing his ball on my desk, imploring me to throw it for him. I also love his fondness for water.. cracks me up.

And Raisin.. oh my. The eternal puppy. Looks like a puppy, probably will always have that puppy look. SO much ENERGY. It's endless. He plays and plays and plays, then BOOM, crash and burn. He's so innocent. So naive. So completely, without a doubt.. HAPPY. He radiates happiness. I love that about him. He's a little cuddly lover.

What do you dislike about your dog?

Drawbacks.. the shedding. Pugs shed.. A LOT. And I have to watch them very closely during the summer.. pugs have a tendency to overheat, quickly. That's about it.

If I was to do this for each dog then I would have a HUGE list! As much as I would love to do individual dogs I don't think you guys' would like that too much,So I'll generalize it.

Why did you choose your dog(s)?

Most because they are great sled dogs and their work ethic is just amazing! They are all big lovable goofballs and are so smart!

The rescue's needed a home and I either just feel in love with them and couldn't give them up (which seems to be happening alot lol) or they needed a home and they where great dogs and I couldn't let them be put down.

What do you like about your dog(s)?

They have wonderful attitudes and are always eager to wake up in the morning and work. They are loving, protective, hard workers, and funny. They can make me laugh on the worst of days and they make those nasty spills not so bad.

What do you dislike about your dog(s)?

They can sometimes be stubborn Other than that, they are great, wonderful, fantastic dogs!

I'll only do a list of who I have currently here at home.

Why did I choose my dogs and what do I like about my dogs?

Peebs - She has the sweetest temperament, her eyes tell it all, this was a girl I just knew I had to have from the moment I met her and I've never had any regrets. My Miss PBJ

Drew - I was looking for my first show male and Drew had the softest face, he was just as sweet as my Peebs ( same breeder who by the way is BJ Bulldogs ) and how anyone could have resisted this sweet boy is beyond me! He is still to this day my little honey boy. I love his good morning "rahwooo woooo wooo" when I walk in. My Drew Magoo

Dottie - We hadn't really planned on getting Dottie but just like her brother she was an absolute doll and very attached to her brother Drew. Dottie is one of the most adorable little girls with a constant smile that could melt anyone's heart! My Miss Dot Dot

Gracie - The daughter of our first love Gabby and the spitting image of her father BJ's LL Cool Dog our Miss Grace Ann has the eyes of an angel ( just like her father did ) and can melt even the toughest of hearts with just a single look. Gracie was kept here at home because of our love for her, her awesome structure and because she carries on what we loved and still love in our beloved bullies. She's my Gracie Ann!

Tillie - Another daughter of our Gabby and the one that resembles her mother the most, kept here for most of the very same reasons as our Grace and one of the most gentle and soft hearted of my girls. My Tillie Willie!

Dugan - The son of our Ginger and grandson of Gabby. Dugan is very much like Drew in his ways and just one big love bug! He has never met a stranger and gives one hundred percent of himself no matter wether its in the ring or in our home, just a big teddy bear with lots of love to go around! Personality and an awesome show boy all rolled into one. My Dugan James aka Doogie!

Immy - The daughter of our Ginger and grandaughter of Gabby. Very much like Dugan James and the spitting image of her grandmother, she looks so very much like her grandmother that she is a constant reminder of our Gabby but in every good way you could imagine. At first it was very difficult to even look at Ims without crying after our Gabby passed but now I just smile as she not only brings her own love but reminds us how fortunate we were to have our Gabby. This girl also has body and show presence that just goes BLAM! My Miss Immers!

What do I like about my dogs? EVERY little thing, from the tips of their noses to the back of their rolling behinds, their temperaments, their snorts, snores, slobbers and everything else that makes my bullies who they are!

Why did I have to have Shaker? I didnt have a choice. My hubby wanted a bully and she was offered to us (by BJ Bulldogs )
I love what a spoiled lovergirl she is. The way she paws at me for me to pet her. I also love that she tried her darndest to sing. Especially anything by Rascal Flatts. She howls her heart out.
Why did I have to have Voodoo? I wanted a boy that was going to cling to me like Shaker does to her Daddy! he was bred by none other than Crossfire Bulldogs. My hubby brought him home Labor Day weekend while I had been working all weekend. It was a real Suprise. ( I dont want to hear it Sonja!!!lol...I came back for him!!!!)
What I love about him is his carefree attitude. He is always happy, nothing gets him down.

Why did you choose your dog(s)?
I think Jesse chose me actually, because I didn't even like Chihuahuas (in fact I hated them) when I found him, half starved, at the shelter. But he wandered over to me, climbed into my lap and licked my hand. It melted my heart and I just couldn't leave him there.

What do you like about your dog(s)?
He's a sweet heart. He makes me laugh, he's such a great example of his breed in that he's friendly to all, not a snappy bone in his body. Even children, which he hates, are mearly avoided and not growled or snapped at. He's not yappy either and so if he does bark, it's always a good idea for me to check out what the problem is.
Of course, I also love his looks. He's an absolutely stunningly gorgeous dog.

What do you dislike about your dog(s)?
He likes men MUCH more than women, and since I'm a woman I tend to get ignored by him if my father, brother in-law or any other men are around. Although he's starting to favour me over my father which is cool.
I don't like the fact that he's not super affectionate...no wait, that's not a good way to put it..he's not overly demonstrative in his affection. My other dogs were real velcro dogs so it's strange to have a rather independant dog around.
His age is creeping up on him too so I'm not happy that his sight is starting to really fail him. I think he's getting close to being blind. His hearing is not too bad though and of course his sense of smell is great. But I hate that he's showing his age more because it just makes me think that in a few years (hopefully not too few) he'll be gone.

There's not much to dislike about him really...he's a wonderful guy that I feel so lucky to have in my life right now.

Cass.

Why did you choose your dog(s)?

Mostly because he was calmer than the others in his litter. But he was a puppy, so that's not saying much! We tried the test where you roll the puppy over, to check its personality. He just laid there in bliss.

What do you like about your dog(s)?

Hmm. Hard to select certain ones. Well, he just loves people. Especially strangers. Ooh, and little kids. And high-pitched noises. There's not much he doesn't like.

What do you dislike about your dog(s)?

This isn't his fault, but his coat is a little hard to manage for us.

Alley: I like that Alley is so well trained and loves to be around you. She is a great Girl who will do ANYTHING to be pet.

What do you dislike about your dog(s)?
Alley: I really dislike that Alley ALWAYS begs for food. It is really anoying. She just sits and stares to intent.

Why did you choose your dog(s)?
Blackie - My parents really chose him because my brother and I were young. We all liked him though. He was a really good (but extreamly hyper!) pup who tolorated rough handiling, but liked to jump, nip, and chase. lol

Rose - I picked her out when I was seven. I liked her because she was a rolly polly puppy and was the only dog, aside from her sister, who were a brindle coloring. Not the best reason to pick a dog, but she has turned out great. She also acts like Brownie did, so it is like I still have her as well.

What do you like most about your dog(s)?
Blackie - his big ol' easy going attitude. He is friendly, responsive, wonderful with kids, and he is also a good guard dog.

Rose - her athleticism. I love watching her run full speed and jump 3 feet strait up in the air. I also like that she can learn to co-exist with other animals (unless if they are a rodent or a Ferret. ).

What do you like least about your dog(s)?
Blackie - his dog aggression. That drives me crazy. If only he was good with other dogs, we'd be able to take him more places with us.

Rose - Her wariness of strangers. She is just wary of people and I have no clue why. She won't let anyone touch her (unless it is a kid, she is wonderful with kids) outside of the family. She is also noise sensitive, so I feel sorry for her when their is a thunderstorm or fireworks or whatever.

Why did you choose your dog(s)?

Taz: I chose him because he was the most layed back pup in the litter and never minded any of the puppy tests and I loved his color. I had pick of the litter, good thing to cause there were only about 4 males to pick from.

Tiva: I picked her because she was the only brindle boston terrier in the litter and that was the color I wanted, had pick of the litter and thankfully they were all female except one I believe.

Junior: He was the only male in the litter and the breeders brought him to us, hubby picked him because of his attitude, and well he does have one...

T-Bone: She was my pick out of my litter, the biggest puppy the reason for her name. Then she got cherry eye, hubby said I always jinxed the puppy I wanted lol She's mine now lol

Dozer: He was also my pick from my litter, hubby blames me again, he had a rectal prolapse and had a heart murmur which he out grew. The bum problem we still have

What do you like most about your dog(s)?

Taz: I love his beautiful nature, he is so layed back, such a big teddy bear. He's very good with people and loves children... Sure am gonna miss him when he is gone. I have never met such a huge dog with his personality, he's just so easy going. He's such to take places.
Tiva: She listens very well, loves people and a joy to take places.
Junior: His strong attitude, nothing fazes him and he's always ready to go and very eager. His so full of energy.
T-Bone: Her energy and willing to please when we are out, she listens well.
Dozer: How he doesn't think twice and barrels thro anything, he's such a big bug. I love watching him pester his sister till she finally gets mad at him to chase him. The way he prances, yup he literaly prances... The way he scream when T-Bone gets the better of him lmao
All my boston's are very protective over my kids, sometimes a lil to much. They will let people know if they are getting to close for comfort.

What do you like least about your dog(s)?

Taz: Actually there is nothing with him, except maybe his age because he can't enjoy long walks anymore, and I know his time is not that far away I hate the fact that he is as old as he is and had HD and arthritis... Yup there is one thing when he gets a drink of water you think he is coming for a pet but then he decides that he is going to rub his face all over you to dry himself off, and if we go upstairs or downstairs he whines real loud till we are back in the same room with him...
Tiva: hmmmmmmmmm
Junior: His dog and sometimes people agression, not his fault but we are working on it. His farts he lets pretty good ones go, his stuberness -- actually I like that about him thats what makes him who he is...
T-Bone: Always asking to go out when she just asked to come in, she's weird that way lol
Dozer: He always messes in his kennel with out fail. Not his fault I know....

Really with out these little quirks what would I have to rememeber my dogs... Its the little things that you remember the most and its these little things that make them special to. Not that I like them least its something I know I will remember when they are gone and maybe even have a laugh about some of them.... I love everything about them.

Why did you choose your dog(s)?

luce: i chose the breed because i wanted a medium-sized, athletic, intelligent, outgoing, friendly breed readily available in rescue. i chose luce because of the expression on her face in the cage at the shelter. i had been intending to get a male, preferably older, preferably white/brindle, with flop ears, but somehow i ended up with a little red female spitfire with ridiculous stick-up ears but she is the perfect dog for me.

mushroom: he's luce's dog. i got him because he needed a home, he is cute as could possibly be, and he is a perfect personality complement to luce. he's not the standard poodle i wanted, but he'll do

What do you like about your dog(s)?

luce: her spark, her intensity, her intelligence, her endlessly friendly outgoing nature.

mushroom: his calm nature, his goofy personality, his willingness to please

What do you dislike about your dog(s)?

luce: her over the top reactivity to everything, her lack of willingness to please. she is very much a "what's in it for me?" dog and it's challenging sometimes.

mushroom: his attention-seeking, his show-offy-dog-aggressive posturing

My dogs are always changing and therefore my likes/dislikes about them change as well.

Ripley:
Why did you choose your dog(s)?
I chose Rip because he suited what I wanted in a dog. I had specified that I wanted a small, athletic dog that could still be a 'lap dog'. (Hee hee.. Well, he -is- small. )

What do you like about your dog(s)?
Ripley has to be one of the most intelligent dogs I've met. He's an independent thinker, his problem-solving skills are amazing. Agility is a snap for him, he is fast and agile. He's quite the communicator and will go to great lengths to get me to understand what he wants.

What do you dislike about your dog(s)?
His weak nerves and aggressive tendencies, his lack of focus and his piercingly loud bark.

Dakota:
Why did you choose your dog(s)?
I wanted a larger dog, preferably a herding breed, that I could compete with in agility. My agility instructor had just placed her litter of Border Collie pups, but one couple who had reserved the little black/white male had gotten a divorce and decided against getting a pup.
I was in a good position to bring a pup into the family, and one thing led to another..

What do you like about your dog(s)?
Almost everything. He is intelligent and eager to learn. He is a very stable dog, tolerant of children and friendly to everyone. He is a very fun dog, he'd play for hours if I'd let him. I have also never had a dog with such a biddable personality. He acts like my servent, often times he will just come and sit in front of me as if to ask "Can I do anything for you?". He's showing a lot of promise as a working dog.

What do you dislike about your dog(s)?
He's a doofus. He has been very late to mature and often I wonder if he will ever mature mentally. He does some of the dumbest, most puppyish things (running into walls, for example.) and doesn't have any sense at all when it comes to things that could hurt him, and he's really quite clumsy at times. Really, though, this is just the leftover puppy stuff and I'm confident that some if not all of it will be corrected in time. There is not much to dislike about Dakota, he doesn't have any truly bad qualities.

What did I choose my dogs?

Tori: I was looking for my first dog and went to the pound. I walked around and fell in love with another puppy. Then I saw Tori, she was in the back corner peering up from her mat. I made them get her out. She was due to be put to sleep the next day...I couldn't let that happen...

Kayda: She is Dan's dog, he absolutely fell for her out PetsMart one day, we had walked in to get fish and crickets He fell for her even though he always said he didn't like tan dogs and wanted a purebred.

Riley: Well, Riley got put on my deck one day. He had parvo and was one sick puppy. I didn't hesitate to take him to the vet and get him better again. After seeing him at the vet and spending one on one time with him during his quarantined time I couldn't part with him.

Libby: Libby was suppose to just stay with us one night. She was being forced to live outside and was going to go into Pug Rescue...well one thing led to another and she is here to stay now.

What do you like most about your dogs?
Tori: Her ability to overcome her past abuse and to trust me. She overcame so much; she must have one strong will.

Kayda: How you can tell she is trying to be good but just can't quite make it. They way she looks at you with her eyes and gives you kisses.

Riley: His laid back personality. The way he just meanders through life and definetely, when he comes and cuddles with me out night.

Libby: Her velcro personality, and the way she looks at me like I am her world.

What do you like least about you dogs?
Tori: Her distrust for strangers(though completely understandable) and her recent agression towards strangers.

Kayda: Her food agression issues, and stubborness

Riley: The fact that he barks a lot and still wants to use the puppy pads, although I know he can hold it.

Libby: the fact that she gets hyper right as I lay down to sleep and she likes to suck on things...ruining toys and blankets.

Overall, I just love my dogs....God gave them to me because they were meant to be with me...
