Robin in the Hood

I finally got most of my pictures back from Robin in the Hood, the midievil festival that I partook in which was on June 3rd and 4th. I played the role of Narmanda the Mongel who was part of a traveling Mongel Horde in search of Prince Buri's cousin who had come to England and had hidden herself by becoming Maid Marian's personal lady in waiting. In the pictures I'm either in a flowing red silk longcoat/cape-type thing, or in a black tank top with either black pants or red shorts

Thursday all day we work hard to get everything set up. We even build bridges across a creek!


Friday's the education day where schools come from all over to do workshops we set up and run, then in the evening is the annual archery tournament and finally Saturday is the actual Robin in the Hood Festival Day!

Our jaw dropping entrance to the royal tournament ring where we state that we want Lady Charlotte by any means (That's me protecting Prince Buri (in blue) from any flank attackers). Behind me is Jama (aka Alysha) protecting the Prince from the guards in front


What's a midievil festival without fights? This is my favourite against Sir Duncan, the King's Knight (aka Chad). His character represents brute strength so he has powerful blows but is a little slower whereas my character is quick and agile. We opened the fight by him throwing me around like a pillow. The fight was hand to hand combat


But when he started doing some kicks and in this picture, punches, I was just too quick for him!


After a few other moves (the fight last about 3-5minutes) he finally knocked me to the ground and was about to stomp on me when I smacked his foot so he ended up above me but facing the other way which was when I kicked him in the groin


Then I jumped on top of him! Yup I won the fight!


During the card game (if anybody has played the game "Magic" - much like the yugi-oh card game but better - this is the same thing only with Robin in the hood characters and the people actually do battle) I await my turn


Little John had to fight the Picts


I fought with Andrew (Prince Buri) Alysha, Dan, and Anthony against Sarah and Polly (not shown). We had a neat fight where in the beginning me and Andrew were against Polly and the others were against Sarah then the two switched so we were against Sarah. I started out fighting hand against daggers, then they switched so it was hand against sword which then I ran to one of the kinghts and stole their quarter staff. Buri faught with a Katana

Cal the Flacon we also had a great horned owl and a vulture i believe


A few of the Picts up close (if you're a historian please don't badger me about improper costuming, we did the best we could while still maintaing a PG-13 rated festival! - also we de realize that the Picts were around 600years before Robin Hood time but shhhhhhhhh)


A small handful of us from the cast of approximately 150 (including village folk who basically just wander the forest and then 50 of us have lines and fights)


On the Sunday we have a cast BBQ to just relax and laugh about the stupid things we did like injuries from fight accidents, or when I shot an arrow 30ft into the air and it sailed over the tennis courts! We also hand out silly awards and awards of recognition
