Oh...my...
American Bullnese?
http://bullnese.com/ Oh dear Gawd!!! Is that a bulldog, pug, peke mix? *faints backwards* Oh dear, I saw this "breed" in a Guess this Breed game and was very shocked when I saw the likeness of a Peke in the puppy's face. Then, I read the introduction on the website which commented on the "bullnese's" elongated body and unique hopping gait. Why are people this bored? ![]() |

I don't understand why people aren't happy with already established breeds? If it were a hunting dog or something perhaps I could understand (I'm not totally against new breeds being developed), but this screams of selfishness to me.
I'm kind of happy that they're trying to establish a 'breed' club though. It does give the appearance of responsibility. Cass. |

The thing that makes me unhappy is that the "breed founder" chose three brachycephalic, low slung dogs to mix breed. I mean, how healthy can a Bulldog crossed with a Pug crossed with a Pekingese be (all, presumably, BYB-bred)? Though Pekes are my heart breed, I will admit that poorly bred Pekes can and do have a multitude of health problems. Among them are: pinched nostrils, large, bulging eyes that cause tear problems, skin problems, hernias, vertebrae problems, etc. Mind you, this happens mostly in BYB-bred dogs, which I have a feeling the "breed founder" used. I don't know what kind of health problems occur within the Bulldog breed, but I do think skin problems are prevalent in poorly bred dogs. And I *know* poorly bred Pugs can have skin problems.
It is true that they've established a breed club, but their standard is laughable and they stated multiple times that American Bullneses were created purposely for companionship. |

Yeah, I've heard about this dog and the attempts to make it a breed(I believe the 'founder' is out of Florida). I guess you could go over all the problems with irresponsible breeding, crossing, and the myriad of other issues. However, all I have to say is the proof is in the picture. I'm actually embarrassed for the dog.

Yeash...I saw those on dogbreedinfo.com and I find them ugly, and that is saying something. (I never think a dog or any other creature for that matter is ugly. I even liked my albinio Beta I had once.)
And yep, I can't see how crossing dogs that have the same build or whatever and have the same health problems result in a healthlier dog. I mean, at least the Pug/Beagle crosses are "creating" mutts that don't have the short muzzles. (And do I agree with that....NO.) And at least the Pug/Beagle mixs have the cuteness thing going for them! (And again...I do NOT agree with them...although there is/was (I'm not sure) a really cute Pug/Beagle mix in at a shelter near us....lol ) |

Hey, I just thought of something else...they said that they bred those dogs together for the "diserable"traits (looks) of certain breeds. Well, those traits of those looks are actually the cause of a lot of health problems for certain breeds. (No offence Bulldog people and Peke people and Pug people! lol) So they basically took the looks that people liked, but those looks are responsible for a lot of health problems when carelessly bred. (Heat stroke, eye problems, skind problems, etc.)

Unique hopping gate? Try totally unsound and dysplasic gait! I can't even begin to imagine the physical and medical issues involved in this one! People who do this kind of thing should be.....well since this is a family oriented forum lets just say they shouldn't be treated very nice! &%# |

All of our "purbread" dogs are a mix of something. This has been going on for centuries, and I don't see that it will end. I do however think we have more than enough dogs who need homes without inventing more.

I agree with you all. It's disgusting that people can be so selfish. Not only will the dogs pay (which is a bad enough) but the new owners will too.
