I've done a few seaches on the net to find out about "breed specifics" when I'm dealing with a new dog of a certain breed. I first did a search about Catahoula Leopard Dogs, because my new rescue, Tia, happens to be a member of this breed. I also did a search on Tibetan Mastiffs, to help understand Kubera's, (Kubera is a member of this forum), dog, Yoghi.
Under almost all of the listings, there was a person selling a book called something like, "How to Train Your (insert breed here) in One Weekend!" While this guy might be a perfectly legit trainer, with a knack for promoting himself. He comes off sounding like an expert on whatever breed you happen to be doing an internet search on. My "radar" went off when I did a search to learn more about the Cape Hunting Dogs of Africa. These dogs are also referred to as Painted Wolves or Wild Dogs of Africa. Never heard of anyone doing a lot of domestication of this breed. But I find them facinating, and personally just wanted to learn more. When I did a net search, guess what? Yep, I found out there is a book out there on how to "Train Your Cape Hunting Dog in One Weekend!". Pretty weird that this guy didn't even know the Cape Hunting Dog is a "wild" species of dog! Just my opinion...I could be wrong. |

Sounds kind of cooky to me. lol I bet he is a scam. Because one training meathod doesn't fit all breeds of dogs, or heck, all dogs.

It could have just been a web generated ad that was designed to insert the name of any dog into the advertisment so that you'll click on the link.

I think I've seen that thing...he has a million websites for all the different breeds, with a little recording talking about how it'll work and how your dog's brain works.
I don't believe a word. |

I just don't think any one style of training or communication fits all breeds. |

Why am I not surprised?!
Yep,
Thar it twas! Top listing when I did a search on " train wolf hybrid". It's a boxed in Sponsored Site. Well, now I know where to get a great training book for fixing all of my wolf hybrid's behavior problems "...in one weekend!" If anyone out there reads one of these "books", maybe we can take it to the "Dogs in the Media" forum and see what it's all about. ...I can hardly wait. |
