My bank experience....

Okay, so I went to the bank and took Chance. He is so good in the car and gave me those eyes so I let him get in. (I love my car so he knows he's special!) He sat up front with me the whole time. When we went through the drive the teller was looking at him for a minute. Then she said, "Is he a nice one?" I looked at him, he just looked at me, and I said, "A nice dog?" I didn't know what in the world she was talking about! Then she said, "no, a nice one of those pitt things?" I said, "He isn't a pitt bull, he's an English/American Bull that we saved from the SPCA". Then she said, "so, he doesn't show any signs of aggression?" I was really not in the mood to teach today, but I guess God had other plans so I told her, "no, he has no aggression (wouldn't have been a good time to mention his biting issue ) and pitt bull dogs aren't bad animals, it's the certain owners that get their hands on them that are the problem." She just looked at me like I was speaking a different language and then she finally said, "well, he gets 2 treats for being so cute."

I really felt like I was in the twilight zone!

Hmm, well wasn't she just special. **rolling eyes** I probably would have made some snide comment back since I'm usually in a hurry when at the bank and have little patience for people with the IQ of a toaster.

I know! I usually would have given her a smart remark, but I was kind of just taken aback that I was off guard. I told my sister, who owns a wonderful "pitt thing" and she gave me a ton of "yuo should have said ...."

It just shows how truely ignorant people are.

Rrrrr..... That would have set me off. Do you know, people think BITTY is a "pitt thing" and literally run from her!? She is barely fifteen pounds, and ALWAYS wagging her little nub!! When they ask about my "miniature pitt bull" that sets me off.... That shows just how dumb people can be - they don't realize not only that most pits are wonderful dogs, but that Bostons DO NOT equal as pits!

Okay I'm better now....

I bet she was a very young girl in her 20's. You would not believe how many young people were never allowed to have a pet growing up, and they know nothing about them. It's nice you did give her a little information. I'm still amazed at how many little kids are VERY afraid of my 4 lb. Yorkie, which tells me they know absolutely nothing about dogs. What's even stranger about this is that ALL these kids just happen to be Hispanic.

And if that is Chance in your avatar, how in the heck did she think it was a PitBull? He doesn't even look like one! (He looks like a Bulldog mix, which is what he is. )
I mean, here is a Pittie:

And here is an American Bulldog:

And then, just for good measure, a Bulldog:

They don't look anything alike!

Luckly, my meeting of people that have no dog sense is limited to family and some friends. No complete strangers yet! lol (But then, I don't own a "scary" dog...just a timid mutt and a Black Lab that acts like a Rottie.)

I find that true of most minorities around me, esp. the people fresh off the boat from Asia. I can have Jackson and Shelby off leash at a park just playing with each other and people 50 yards away will freak out and demand that I put them on the leash. 200 other people will walk by and the dogs will not even glance at them, both are very people socialized, but you are special and are going to set my dogs off. It always makes me laugh. I mean would I have the dogs off leash in a public area if I did not think I could trust them.

Or people will come up to pet them, and they will be peting Jackson and ask what breed he is and when I say pit about 50% immediatly stop.

It is! He kind of, to me, looks more like the American Bull than English. (his front legs and teeth look English to me) But he still doesn't look like a pittbull to me. It just shows how people are...

People get freaked out about Chihuahua's too. The mean nasty little doggies that they are. ROFL Personally, even now that I own one of the little sweeties, I'd be more worried about a Chi attacking me than any of the larger bully breeds. Small dogs are so coddled by some ignorant owners that if they were larger, they would be a serious danger to the public.
Chance is lovely by the way, sooooo cute! And in no way resembles a pittie.

Cass.
