Ah, the joy of dog ownership.

Ripley usually succeeds in making me try to shrink down in public, whether he's barking incessantly because he sees a friend of his, or YELPING as loud as he can when I pick him up. (Turns a lot of heads, I'm sure they think that dog is horribly abused)

He embarrassed me so badly, once, though. I had brought him to my friend's house so he could play with her chihuahuas, and we left him and the Chi's, Tony and Penney, in their 5th wheel while we went to see a movie.

Well, we got back, and the entire 5th wheel was LITTERED with shredded kleenex, toilet paper, napkins and paper towels. Ripley, Antonio and Penney all ran to greet us, and Ripley had a huge wad of paper towel in his mouth, with Tony and Penney lunging toward it and ripping shreds of it off, and spitting them out on the floor like confetti. Oh yes, they had a wonderful time, and then a wonderful trip to the ex-pen that they had somehow gotten out of. (They didn't get out again)

My friend just gave me this look as if to say "Yeah. Your dog is SOOOO well-behaved. "

It was awful then, because we were supposed to have been cleaning the 5th wheel and instead it looked like a paper towel factory had exploded.

We got in trouble, of course, and the dogs got petted and cuddled and told "Aww, what bad doggies you are! Yes, you're such bad doggies!" in a baby voice by Amanda's parents.

What's the most embarrassing thing your dog has done in the presence of others?

My parents dog urinated/marked on my friend three times in one day and once on the side of his amp. He is an amazing guitar player and was helping my father with a song for my fathers "old people" choral group. So he came over one day (hes allergic to dogs I should add) and Niki just felt the need to mark him many times....

Kino got into a box of golf balls the other day, but we still kinda expect these things from him being a puppy still, though we are working on stopping it, it is still going to happen

*cough*

Well, I once had a couple classmates come over to work on a project about 2 years ago...well, the moment this poor girl walked in, Quincy tackled her...and had his way with her leg. I was rather shocked...this is something he had never done before...to anyone. So, I locked him up in my room...where he proceeded to howl like a banshee for the duration of the visit.

Another thing he likes to do is chase the neighbor's cat...then again, I don't mind much as the cat is always hanging around...

Hehe, I think everyone with a male dog has had that happen.

We once had company, and they had 4 little kids all under 5 yrs old running around in our backyard, and Buster cornered one of them and 'asserted his dominance'. The poor kid was terrified, since he had only just healed from being bitten by someone else's yellow lab. (Buster is a yellow lab)

I used to have a big German Shorthair named Boss. We were having a party one night and the living room was full of about 25 people. Boss dragged his pillow out of the bedroom and brought it to the middle of the living room and proceeded to hump it in front of everyone. Everyone started howling with laughter and pointing at him. I yelled and tried to grab the pillow away from him and he tried to hump my leg all the way down the hall. We got him fixed a month later. I could have died from embarrassment!

Whenever anyone comes to our house the dogs go nuts, barking, jumping and we can't shut them up. It takes between 10 and 15 minutes for them to settle down. For the remainder of their visit our guests are constantly being nudged for petting and then go home covered in dog hair.

My daughter had friends over, one of the girls took her shoes off. My mini doxie went over sniffed her shoes and took a big poo in her shoe. Try explaining that one to a teenage girl.

I've had a few male dogs and never had one do that. I think the boys are all afraid of me, the mean mom. I do my share of hollering and they probably already know what I'd say. "A-h-h-h! Quit that! That's gross!"

Buster's learned his lesson... But I wish my friends would teach their male chihuahua not to do that...

This little dog adores me, for some reason I don't understand, and he sleeps with me every night I stay over there. When I get up in the morning, he attaches himself to my arm before I can stand up.

He's a sweet enough dog the rest of the time, but he's.. um.. yeah.

Oh no... That'd teach the girl to keep her shoes on, lol.
