Toys to keep dog busy
I bought Bailey a new toy today. It's called the Busy Buddy. It is made of rubber and shaped like a flying saucer. I can unscrew it and fill it with treats and she has to figure out how to get them out. After about 3 minutes she figured out she could pick it up and just shake the treats out of the hole. She emptied all the treats out in a pile and layed down to eat them. I have tried the buster cube, the talk to me treat ball, and a few others but she figures them all out! Anyone else have any cool toys to keep your dogs busy while you are at work? I have to work for 12 hours and I wish I could keep her entertained for a little while.

Ripley has an amazing "busy" toy. It's one of those kong training dummies, with a scented foamish core.. I got it for Shiner a few years back, and since she's been gone, it's just been sitting around. Well, Rip found it and went crazy. The kong part itself is twice the size of his head, and it's attached to a rope, and he drags it around, growling... It's hilarious and he'll play with that for a couple hours.
I love kongs because of that, you could try the peanut butter (if Bailey will eat it. Ripley hates it now) in the kong, or a special stuffing for kongs... It doesn't last long, maybe an hour at most, but if you do it 7 or 8 times during the day (Figuring that she'll sleep at least SOME of the time) it could keep her busy... Then again, she might get tired of it after awhile. I don't know what your space is like at work, but if Bailey likes to play ball, I saw something on TV that was a tennis-ball with a little wiggle motor inside, and it would roll around on the ground, I considered getting that for Ripley, but he likes the laser pointer a LOT better. |

Kongs
undefinedI found Kongs to be great, they have a website with lots of different ideas for fillings. One of my favs at this time of year is a bit of cheese at the bottom, then get some stock and kibble put it in the fridge and give to them the next day keeps my labs busy for a couple hours

It you stuff the Kong, and then frezze it, it lasts longer.
Maybe you could stuff a few to leave when you out. |

I am totally into the kongs and they work for an hour or two. I can't give her the frozen kongcicles when I go to work since she makes a pig of her self and gets it on the carpet. I have bought her every toy you can hide treats in but she figures them out too quickly and gets the treats too fast. I feel sorry for her when I leave for work..I guess she will just have to find something entertain herself. I am pretty sure she just sleeps most of the day anyway, judging by how HYPER she is when I get home from work at midnight. I usually have to stay up and play with her until 3-4 in the morning before she will let me go to bed.

Sounds like a winner of a toy! Your dog is too smart for her own good. LOL. That's amazing how she figures things out so quickly.
I'm afraid, for my dogs, if the toy isn't as hard as a Nyla bone, they'll tear them to smitherines. They are all hard chewers and ruin just about any other toy. Are kongs as hard as a Nyla bone? Carrie |

The black Kongs are very hard. Duke has had one for months now, and this is the same dog that chewed a tire off my car. |

Go to Google and type in kong dog toys and you should find a picture.

*sigh*
I just got back from PetsMart (my favorite store) and I bought Bailey a Bumble Ball. It has stubby rubber spikes all over it and when you turn it on, it jumps and "bumbles" all over the place. She absolutely LOVED it and went crazy! Saddly she killed it in about 10 minutes. I guess the kongs are the only toy able to withstand this destructive wiener-dogs iron jaws! It was a hilarious 10 minutes though... When she was able to catch it and pick it up by a spike her whole head and body bumbled up and down! |
