5 dachshunds in da house!!!!

I just found out I get to babysit 3 dachshunds from August 15 thru the 20th! That will make 5 dachshunds in my hosue for almost a week! I can't wait. My best friend has the 3 little wieners and she is going on vacation. She was going to kennel her dogs but I begged her to let me babysit. I can't bear the thought of her sweet little pups being in a kennel for that long. She always babysits Bailey and Lucy for me when I leave town and now I get to see what she goes through. My husband and I have opposite days off that week so one of us will be home the entire time to keep an eye on the gaggle of hotdogs. I am sure I will be begging for advise when the puppers arrive. We have play dates every week at the park and my dogs have spent the night over at her house several times but this is the first time they are all going to be at my house. I am praying I won't have any territorial issues. I will have fresh batteries in the digital camera so you all can see the fun we have. Including my two there will be 4 black and tans and one silver dapple. The silver dapple is one of the pups that was rescued along with Lucy. Lucy and the pup "Harley" are practically litter mates and are only two weeks apart.

The hotdogs are here! Gosh it's hard to tell them apart when they are all running around. Bailey and Lucy are being very nice hosts for their weiner guests. The names are Lilly, Petunia, and Harley. A few of the dogs started barking at the fence and I couldn't get the names right when I was telling them to stop. Bailey!....um...Harley!..wait...is that Lucy or Lilly!? HEY you DOGS don't bark! LOL!! I'll take pictures in the morning and upload them as soon as I can. This is so fun! Lilly, Petunia, Bailey and Lucy are all black and tans and Harley is a silver dapple. Harley is very dark in color though so I still mix her up with the rest. Petunia is the oldest one at 13 years of age and she is a little chunky. I can tell her apart from the rest a little easier but the other 4 are all close to the same size and weight. Tee-Hee-Hee...what fun!

To tell you the truth, it has almost been easier. They all play and ruff and tumble all over the house. I have to hunt one down and pick her up just to get some attention myself. I wish I had a better camera for taking pictures in the house. Last night they all slept together on one big dog bed. I couldn't tell where one began and one ended. I tossed a big blankie over them all and they stayed that way for most of the night. Around 4 in the morning, one by one, they all ended up in bed with me and my husband. I had dachshunds under each arm, one across my legs so my legs were pinned down with blankets, one was on my husbands chest and the last one across his legs. We couldn't move and it got really WARM! LOL. Dachshunds are the best bed warmers in the winter but in the summer? No thank you!
