It any town/city there are noise ordinances (sp?). Check to see what time quiet time starts in your city. If the dogs bark all the time, talk to your neighbor and tell them about the law. If they don't seem to care and it continues, call the cops. I've done it! There are also dog limits in MANY cities. In my city it's 3 dogs. If there is none in your city and all the animals are in good health, you can't do anything.

There's nothing wrong with having 7 dogs and 5 cats. As long as all the pets are taken care of and given all the love and attention they need.

The barking, on the other hand, is a problem for everyone around them (and I'm sure they're not pleased about it either). Before you call anyone, slip a note into their letter box if you can and ask them to deal with the barking problem because it's disturbing their neighbours.

If they don't, like kerriebeth said, call the police (or whom ever you need to) and have it dealt with. You shouldn't have to put up with noise like that.

Same goes if they're mistreating or neglecting their animals, call someone if they (the animals) need help.

But like I said before, there is nothing wrong with someone having 7 dogs...there are people on this site who have more than 10 and their dogs are very well looked after and loved.

Cass.

I don't see anything wrong with having more than 7 dogs. I myself have 11, soon to be 12, and all are loved, and well looked after!

As for the barking, I agree with both Cassiepeia, and kerriebeth21. Try talking to your neighbors about it, and if nothing happens take it to the police or someone else who can help.

There are a multitude of option here. First, as Kerribeth said many many areas have a limit on how many dogs/animals you can have in one home w/o paying extra for a breeders or hobbyists permit.
Are all her animls even registered? What do you know about vet care, supervision? Are they aggressive in any way? being chained or inhumanely treated in any way?
And then, there is the issue of noise. Although i'm against noise pollution ordinances, they are there for a reason, so use them.
If any of you or the other neighbors know her, try talking to her, honestly tell you its a concern that she has so many animals, maybe she needs some help, and talk about the noise, maybe a compromise can be reached.
If you suspect ANY animal neglect or abuse call your locale humane society or animla control NOW. dont wait. There is nothing wrong with being overly cautious.
As a parent, i would be concerned about the number of dogs and her children if i wasnt sure that the dogs were getting proper food, exercise, and supervision and training.

It all depends on the dogs and the situation. If they are unable to care for the dog (proper training, housing, food, etc) then it is an issue that needs to be addresses. If the dogs present a serious danger to the kids or anyone else it needs to be addressed. If this is not happening then it is not a crime if they own a bunch of dogs.

Wow. 7 dogs, here in Carson City, we're not allowed to have more than 3 dogs in a household unless you have specific reasons for having more than that. I dont see anything wrong with it either, if they're healthy and are well taken care of, nothing to be worried about. But, if your neighboor's dogs are noisy, you should talk to them about it and if they dont try to fix the problem, call the cops and I'm sure they'll solve the problem. It's usually hard to have a dog stop barking though, just instinct. But I've seen it happen before where a dog is trained to not bark/or to stop on command.
