"Nothing is ever easy"
|
Oh man!! I was just out walking the dogs (well, Blackie was on his retractable, and Rose was running loose) back in our feild and Rose goes into the woods by our house for a while. "No big deal," I thought, she always does that. Well, when I had turned around getting ready to head home, here comes Rose with animal guts (or something) all over her back!
Apparently, she had found a dead animal (I thought I smelled something in the woods...) and had rolled on it. GROSS!! So I had her head home. I was about ready to throw up just walking behind her. I tied Blackie up to a tree, had him sit and stay, and then I hosed Rose off (I normally give them bathes inside, but she stunk so BAD!!) and used a deorderizing shampoo on her. And guess what....she STILL STINKS! Only now, unstead of making you want to puke when you are 20 feet away from her, she just makes you want to puke when you are 2 feet away from her. And since I gave her a bath, I stink too! I even scrubbed my arms and hands with soap twice and I still stink...I think I'm going to have to take a shower... I'm hoping giving her another bath plus being outside in a breeze will help blow the stink off of her but if it doesn't...I'm going to be coming on her asking for advice on how to get a extreamly nasty dead animal smell off of Rose! *gags* |

Eeeeew! I think I can smell her from here!
Better change her name, Ritz! I will be watching to see if anyone has any good remedies for salt water beach stinkies, too! I think tomatoe juice was an old folk remedy for something like this. Maybe it was a skunk smell cure, I don't know. Tia rolled in tomatoes once. It looked like she had been hit by a car! |

Try tomato juice. It's suppose to work wonders for skunk. If it can work for skunk, it should work for anything. Sorry you had to deal with this. Gup.....it's times like this that make you wonder what in the world you're doing with all these dogs. LOL. |

Well, she smells better. lol I actually took her for a walk out on the road yesterday, and a I didn't die, so she deffinitally smells better. lol But when you get really close to her she smells like my Grandma's lake on a very bad day. lol
That was just too gross though...here I am looking to see where Rose is, and then all of a sudden I smell something horrible and I look and Rose has tan slime crap all up her back...ugh. I mean, she's rolled in some pretty disgusting stuff before, but this one iced the caked. Right now I'm bleaching her collar...lol Because it stunk soooo bad, and I can't find any collars like the one she has. I'll I've seen are buckle collars...not martingale collars or whatever they are called. |

You can buy martingales for around 5$ on Halemar.com
![]() As for getting that stinky smell off, you can try mixing a gallon of 3% hydrogen peroxide with a cup of baking soda and 4 teaspoons of dishwashing liquid (not detergent). Lather, let sit, and voila! A de-stunked (is that even a word?) dog Poor you and naughty naughty Rose! |
