What is the normal cost for vet
I live in a small town and theres only 2 animal hospital. Both not so big.
The one i am currently with (just switched) charges 50 per office vist 20 for antibiotics However the other hospital that i used to take my dog seems to be cheaper but they over charge on little things (20 bucks for hospital switching fee?). For one vaccination, they charaged me around 100 (30 for exam, 20 for switching fee plus 20 for anal sacs empting and around 30 for vaccine shots). Also the doctor doesnt seem as helpful as the one i am currently with. (The hospital i am currently with told me the importance of using a harness on my chi and that there is more risk of spraying her now since her breath rate is a little high) Not to mention they forgot to check off rabbies in the Vaccination record of the my chis health record book. (had to get it again in the summer) i am wondering how much does it cost for others? (listed as canadain currency) sorry i could only list a few of the costs, i had my chi for only about a year so far. |

My vet charges (US) 29 dollars for office visits. The thing I don't like is they charge an office visit even when we are going back for a checkup from a previous visit ( like having stitches removed after surgery). On the checkup visit they don't look in my pups ears, check her eyes, teeth, weight, anal sacs etc., they just take out the stitches and send us on our way with a bill. For vaccines I was charged 35 dollars per shot ( plus an office visit) and 3 dollars disposal fee per needle. I don't mind all the little extra charges usually because I have a great relation ship with my vet. She will sit down and talk to me about my worries until I understand everything that is happening. It sounds like our vet charges are similar and the most important thing is that you have a good relationship with your vet and you are comfortable with the care your pets are receiving.

a lot depends on location.
where i work an office visit is USD $37 (or $42 for a visit with a brand new to the client pet). vaccines are $18 - 25 depending on what it is. rechecks are $29. heartworm test is $33.50. suture removals are no charge. i've never heard of charging a "switching" fee (i've heard charging to fax records to the new vet but never the new vet charging). |
