We did that too Oh, I miss those days. Most of the time we got to sleep outside, we thought we were so cool sleeping under the stars.

Oooh, that would be so cool. I have to watch for that..

QW, if I can get the digital camera working to take pictures at night, I'll try to take a picture and post it on here. (Emphasis on TRY. Cameras don't like me much)

I live in the country and usually have an excellent night sky view but it's been totally overcast the last 24 hours and won't clear up until this weekend. It hardly ever rains in August here so this is so disappointing! Hubby and I will usually set up lounge chairs in the lawn, lay back and watch the show each year. I hope folks can catch these - they are sometimes amazing to see.

Thank you so much Lil' Paws! I just love stars, and getting lost in the night sky. zit hard to see many stars at all in a lot of areas of my city. Fortunatley, I live close to dowtown in an area of old homes and there aren't very many street lamps and bright signs & the like. I love the night sky and I would kick myself if I missed the shows tonight and tomarrow night!

It's a very hot, but very clear day here in Nevada. No clouds at all, anywhere. Will be a perfect night for stargazing/meteor watching. In between telescopes, lawn chairs and a few little gizmos I bring along, makes for one packed little car. LOL Wish they did star parties around here, would be fun. Don't think anyone around here does that anymore. They did have an astronomy club but apparently it has ceased to exist. Bummer.

Pug,

Have you ever hooked up a camera to your telescope? I haven't tried that yet..I have to dig out my 35mm camera. Haven't seen it for a few years since we got the digital.

The weather here cooperated last night and we got to see them for a while. It was good, but nothing like the ones that come in November (Leinids (sp?)) - we sat out one year and were actually seeing smoke trails across the sky from them.

Yes, I have. I piggyback a Pentax on the scope. Get some pretty decent pictures.

Spent last night out in the middle of nowhere. Some some awesome meteors. Very nice. Lost count of how many I saw. They were everywhere. Really enjoyed myself. There were some clouds off to the south but nothing that hindered viewing the meteors. Woohoo! Driving back out of the hills, kept seeing them as I was driving. Cool stuff. Saw a very nice extra /bright one when I got home, standing out while the pugs 'did their business'. lol
