Is anyone as mad about Bush as I am?

OK, I have a little rant here. I'd like to say that I was once a Bush supporter but have not been one for two years. I am speechless at Bush's actions with Katrina.

Heaven forbid that he take off from his vacation! People were warning about a cat 5 hurricane slamming right into New Orleans for days before it showed up...and he was happy to ride around on his bike and trim brush away from his "Texas Ranch".

Now, we ask why New Orleans has such heavy flooding. Because it's under sea level! How do we keep the water out? Through levies that hold back the water. Now, for years before Katrina, the local papers were reporting (9 articles) that funds to rebuild the levy systems had been taken to fund the war in Iraq and the tax cuts. No matter what you feel about the war, why is it our first priority to invade a country, leaving a levy in order to protect a city unfinished. This was such an important issue that contractors worked for free for over a year to try to finish the project.

Fine...Bush made a mistake...a big one. Now, what is he doing to solve the problem? For food, he sends 1.5 million MREs...which can feed all the new homeless people for about 6 hours. He sends a few cots, blankets, and then decides to send off the hospital ship. One hospital ship with 1,000 beds to fix a problem with over 1.5 million homeless...does NOTHING to solve the problem.

So...so...Bush took away the money to fix the problem, knowing the risk. He failed and resulted in the deaths of thousands of people, this is the worst hurricane in US history. He failed because the national guard is off in Iraq, no where to help the victims of the storm. He failed because he waited to end his vacation. He failed because he is doing next to nothing with this problem. Failure. Disgrace. I'm so angry...there is no way to defend this man.

And some wonder why Bush's approval ratings are in the 30th percentile. Pah, perhaps Americans are waking up...too bad this fool is still in office for three more years. Shame.

Experts are saying to expect $4 - $5 / gallon gas prices soon. That means higher costs for car owners, for shipping, for everything! Enjoy, write your government to thank them for their wild givings to you.

I am so with you! Except the part of ever being a Bush fan...I never voted for him and am so (insert choice word here) at what he has done to our country. I guess he figures he might as well ride on his high horse and leave the tab for the next person in office. With the state it is in now I can't see anyone wanting to pick up where he left off. I am not so eloquent with words but just listening to his speeches makes me embarrassed for our country. How a guy who can't even talk made it into our highest held office is beyond me.

Repeat what Mom2many said here and you have my viewpoint on the subject.

Bush or not, the next few presidents are screwed because they will have to deal w/ an oil situation that will make the current one look like childs play. This goes way back past Bush, and no one seems to care.

Hydrogen can power our cars... but it takes something like 30 barrels of oil to make a hydrogen car

I have never been happy with Bush. I could go on and on about my reasons, but I'd rather not hijack the thread into a big political rant.
I agree that more needs to be done about Katrina. Not just by Bush, but by any other state and people capable of extending a helping hand. There are people dying as they wait for help to arrive. The conditions they wait in are deplorable. The devastation on all levels is just mind-blowing.

I've heard some great things about the hybrid cars. I think more information should be broadcasted and finance companies should help make funds readily available for them.

Briefly, how did he funnel levee money to the war? Isn't that a state problem? I could understand partial US funding for repair, but surely the state of Louisiana has responsibility, too. Got links?

Never been a Bush fan either - I did the same as Mulroony - so yeah, you could say I'm a little more than steamed as far as his actions in the aftermath of Katrina.

I'd be very interested in learning more about this as well. It was always my understanding that this fell under state with possible federal grants.

Not to be apart from the tide, but I love Bush. I can think of ways that we could be in so much worse doo doo. Last time I checked, he wasn't responsible for the Hurricane, and as far as I know, he's had to deal with some pretty horrific things in his presidency. If we had another president, I can not with any deal of certainty claim that things would be any better, and I can think of lots of ways it could have been handled worse.
I do not pretend to know the inner workings of the gov't or what day to day life must be for a man responsible for millions of people. But I do know that it is not a job I would take for any amount of money or rewards.
Not to sound too cold hearted, but, I am already sick and tired of the people in New Orleans, and elsewhere, complaining. It is a natural disaster, quite possibly the worst one in America's history. Do they think that they will be able to pick up with life as normal tomorrow? Do they think the gov't is there to wipe their butts??? What did they do to plan for this type of event?
I am soulfully sorry that people have lost their lives, and my heart goes out to those that are in pain, suffering, and miserable. I am angered beyond belief by the lawlessness that other people are demonstrating as they continue to hamper rescue and relief efforts. And my heart rejoices when I hear someone just be thankful that they have what they have, even if that's the clothes on their backs and the ability to continue to breath. People are just too darn stuck on themselves.
Sorry all... I just wanted to add my 2 cents.

What I find the most amusing in all of this is that Bush's family comes from oil money...what do you think his profits are now that we have a "shortage"? Anybody read the book "The Bush Dynasty"? I think that is what it is called. Anyways what I gleaned from it was that the Bush family is a tad bit corrupt and always has been...seems there theory is let the people pay. Just my 0.2 cents.
