I haven’t been on here for so long! Hope everyone is doing well. I have been just so busy, maybe because of the summer. Hmmmmm.
Well, I have to tell you what happened to the girls and I today.. This morning at 5:45am I let Cora, Copper & Sable out as I normally do every single morning. Let me just tell you that we have several stray cats around here (been trying to catch them to spay them, but those little ….devils) and every time the girls go out, Cora just wants to do what comes natural to her being the hunter she is, runs around trying to find those cats , while Copper follows & poor old sable lacks behind due to the first stages of arthritis (poor girl). Well their they go…. this morning first Cora, Second Copper, then me and sable not to far. Their goes Cora running, Copper on her tail and I thought they were cornering a cat, but no wait…the tail goes up, out comes this god awful smell…yep you guessed it…. the smell that won’t go away…. Sprayed by a SKUNK! Cora is looking like goofy while she is getting sprayed in the face, Copper doesn’t know what is going on , I am walking backwards and can’t speak because I was completely in shock of what I am seeing and SMELLING, and good old sable was saved by her arthritis . After a few seconds I am yelling for Cora and Copper to come over here! Skunk runs away after it has emptied it load. Cora was rubbing her face in the ground and Copper is just going about what she does. At this point I went up to Cora and saw she could not open her left eye and was foaming at the mouth. Cora was squirted in the face 100% and copper just got the smell on her from smelling Cora. Sable just did what she needed to do and didn’t smell at all. Well, I let sable in the house. Cora and Copper were outside in the front waiting until I came back down. I ask my ex what should I do? He replied that I pour vinegar all over them (not in the eyes) so I did, duh it didn’t work . Then I called … animal 911 and asked them what I should do. She said, “ are their eyes closed’, I replied yes. She said, “ are they foaming at the mouth”? I replied, yes. She said, do you have a pen and paper? I replied, yes. She said, “ Okay, I am going to give you a recipe. 1 quart of Hydrogen Peroxide, 1quart of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of dishwashing soap and mix them together. Before adding the dishwashing soap wash their face. Then mix the dishwashing soap and wash their entire body & let it sit on them for 10 minutes. Rinse, and give them a bath with doggie shampoo. Repeat if necessary. For the eyes, flush with saline solution So I did. Well it worked. But I think I have to do it a couple more times. Does anyone know of anything else? ![]() Oh yeah, I even stink now too because Cora wanted me to comfort her so badly. She started putting her head on my lap and putting her nose under my arm so I would hug her, so I did! Yeah so what I smell now but you would have done it too! LOL. So I took a shower and still smell. Called my boss and told him what happened, as he was laughing at me and told me not to come in today and have a nice weekend (I am off on Fridays). So, I been hearing I need to get some tomato juice. So to the store I will be heading. My house still smells but the Fresh Air by EcoQuest is up and running and removing the smell from inside of my house as I speak. Well, that little evil skunk walked away all proud and laughing on the inside. But that’s okay, because we are all still a little smelly but we are all going to be fine! psssss. like my message says: Everything happens for a reason. Well, today I had the day off to spend with my girls. Maybe thats the reason why this happened. LOL! ![]() |

OMG! I'm glad my computer doesn't have a "scratch-n-sniff" feature! Soooo, do the pups now think kitty cats have a secret weapon, or do they know the difference between a skunk and a cat?
How many baths have YOU taken, since the "encounter"?! I'm just teasin', I'll bet this was a day to remember, smell is connected to memory...why?...I don't know. Maybe a joke God is playin' on us! I've only smelled skunk from afar on the freeway, no close encounters, yet! I hope things start smelling better for you, soon! ![]() |

Don't use tomato juice it doesn't work!! This is coming from a dog groomer who has groomed many skunky dogs after there owners tried the tomato juice route
. They do sell a product called skunkoff I can get it at my local vets office and they sell similar products at petco & petsmart stores. Good luck, it takes months for the smell to really go away and every time it rains you will still smell a hint of it on there damp coats. ![]() |
