Wish me luck on my new tattoo!

So in about two hours I am going in for my biggest, most elaborate piece yet. It is going to take at least two sessions and is of a flower fairy by Cicely Mary Barker, the Poppy fairy. This is being done in remembrance of my best friend Debbie who passed away in Feb. after back surgery...she was only 25 with two small children of her own. This tattoo will be on my shoulder so she is always watching my back. The fairy will be holding a banner in her hand that says LYLAS, this was how Debbie always signed our notes in school and it stands for love you like a sister.
I will take a picture of it in a few days once it is not all red and blotchy...so wish me luck, my longest piece before this only took about an hour and a half so this will be a lot more work, hope I can handle it! I have faith that Debbie will help me get through it!

Aww Hope it goes ok for you.

My 1st tattoo.. I got becuase I had teased my hub about me getting one. He got one "covered" (LOL) I said oh I should go get one.. He takes me there, says pick one out.. I did, he paid for it, and he left me there! He says well I have to get the kids off the bus. It didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would.

I have since gotten 2 more. Not fancy or big ones, they've taken about a 1/2 hr to do.

Oh my goodness!! Passing away after back surgery? What went wrong? Boy that's an awfully young age and especially for needing back surgery. Can't wait to see your tribute to her, it sounds wonderful.

I want to get a smallish one.. but am afraid that it will hurt to much and end up quitting partway through.

Good luck and I can't wait to see it. =)

I could NEVER get a tattoo!!! Don't they use needles? I can't even stand to get a shot or a blood test!!!!!! It would be SO painful!!!!

lol. Yes they use needles. Many of them as a matter of fact. But they do not peirce your skin very far.

I've been thinking about getting my back finished. I have a solar flair and inside it is a penticle and moon. It's religious for me so I should probably get it finished huh....

I just can't decide what colors to make it

Good luck with your tribute tattoo.

The surgeon nicked her aorta and did not note it in the surgical notes so the nurses did not become immediately alerted to her excessive pain and difficulty breathing, not to mention the loss of BP, when they opened her up her belly was full of blood. So because of somebodies negligence in charting my best friend died .

So the tattoo is all ready to be colored in two weeks...the whole outline and shading are done. It looks so beautiful, I will post a picture of the outline of it tonight and then you will have to wait two more weeks for the rest! I am absolutely thrilled with it although it is a lot larger than I originally intended it is just perfect.

Good luck with the tattoo! What a lovely tribute to your friend.

I'd love to get a tattoo...but now days I kinda think you're more unique without one. ROFL

I'm too old to get one now. If I did, it would end up looking like something totally different in a few years. LOL My son does tatoos as a hobby and has been trying to put one on me. He even makes his own designs and boy are they ever unique!!!!!

CalGal, your never to old to get inked! I have known people in their 70's who get a nice little discrete tattoo.

Anyways, here she is! Now please bear in mind that this was done about four hours ago so it is still very inflamed and irritated...she's also shiney from the vaseline and the quality of my camera is not that great. I guess I am trying to say that it is a lot more impressive in real life although the pictures look pretty good I thought.
The flower on my neck was from a tattoo about three years ago, due to where it is located and the size of my new piece we decided that to make the picture flow we needed to incorporate it into one piece. I am very pleased with it so far and can't wait to see it all colored in!
