What can I do???
Are there any actions I can take against this pet store in my town. I've already assisted in shutting down their breeding building. They were breeding small animals in super bulk. ie rats, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits etc... in between two small resturants. The place was so fragrant with urine it would knock you over, plus they had so many animals together ie. several rabbits in five gallon buckets and such that they started eating each other. I would love to completely shut this place down. Inside the pet store are all sorts of animals. Sugar gliders, gerbils, mice, rats, hamsters, dogs, a closet with a screen door had about 7 cats in it (they were not in good shape), snakes, lizards, birds, chinchilas on and on. I live in a very small town and there is not a great demand for these pets (I would think). Most people I know who want a snake get one from the yard. It is hot and muggy in there, over crowded and gezz it just sickens me to think about it all. Plainly put it is Gross! Advice? |

If they are not in good condition then call your local humane society. They have a right to breed them so theirs nothing you can do about that. But if their conditions are not humane (ie eating each other and being kept in buckets) then they can shut them down with the proper authorities contacted. YOu can also contact your local paper and write an editorial on it.

I would go with SalemWitchChild & call the humane society & write to the paper about it. The thing is too though that they may be able to set up shop somewhere else and do the same thing again.
If you can let people to know what they are doing, and enough people stop shopping there, it will shut them down. |

Do you have any local news channels who like to do expose stories?

There is no Humane society here. I live in a very small town. Sad thing is the place is ran by a big company here that takes care of mentally disabled persons. If fact some of them help in the store.
I will however maybe do some more anonomous work with letter writing and such to the media, although the newspaper won't run anything with a name and addy. last letter I wrote to the editor I had people looking me up in the phonebook to call and harrass me so... |
