Does my vet hate me?

So we are literally at the vet an average of every two weeks. This includes Winston's puppy checkup, his shot boosters, and his rabies vax, but also includes about three or four elective visits brought on by my concerns (hernia, soft stool, kennel cough, etc.). So now, after I called last week (twice) about Winston's kennel cough, I had to call back this morning and explain about our visit to the emergency clinic this weekend and tell them that per those instructions, we switched his antibiotics.

I mean, it's kind of their fault, they always call and leave messages checking in the day after the appointment, LOL.

Aside from the fact that we're keeping her in business, do people like me drive her batty? I don't really care, because he's just a little tiny puppy and I'll do anything to keep him safe and healthy (and I really have had concerns and she did advise that I bring him in), but I would hate it if they rolled their eyes every time they got off the phone with me.

(Feel free to share your "I'm obsessive and my vet tolerates it well" stories so I don't feel so alone.)

My guess is that your vet understands and has plenty of patients that come in just as often. My mother is a pediatrician and she has parents who are the same way - they call often and make many visits because they're concerned and want to make certain they're doing everything right - she definitely doesn't roll her eyes She understands it's part of the process of raising a dependent being, and it's her job to help people through that process. I'd bet most veterinarians feel the same way (despite the obvious differences in raising a child vs raising a puppy of course - but love is love, after all).

The first year we had Kassie was the same for us. I used to joke around saying that my vet must think I have a crush on him. Especially the time I went in after she hurt her leg and kept favoring it UNTIL we walked into the vet’s office. She then walked about like nothing bothered her. "lol"

Don't worry so much about what the Vet. or anyone else could be thinking. Maybe your reading too much into things. Continue being a very sweet and concerned fur-baby owner. After all, your baby is more important anyway, and your doing a fantastic job keeping him healthy. I'm sure you are a great parent in the Vets. eyes too.

I'm sure your vet appreciates the fact that you are a caring mom. I know for a fact that they much prefer this type to those that only bring their dogs in when something it terribly wrong! They like to get to know your healthy pet, so they have something to compare it to when he/she is truly sick.

Our vets love for us to bring our 3 by to see them, even if we don't have appointments. They make it a point to come out and visit, and have even come to our dog shows in the area to cheer us on! I love our vets!! I would recommend them to anyone that was in this area.

Don't feel bad about taking your dog in...it's their health and well being that you are taking care of, and your peace of mind!

5 more days until we pick up Phantom, our new baby!! YEAH!!!

I would think he or she would welcome a pet owner who takes their responsabilites to heart. I know my vet does ( I keep teasing him that I have shares in his business ). He has told me on numerous occasions that he thought I was a good pet owner and that he wished more people cared about their pets.

Don't feel bad , your doing the right thing!!

I am sure your vet doesn't mind at all

I call my vet all the time and she always returns my call even after hours, she prefers if I can handle it at home much better then bringing the animal in....

Boy do I hear you! I was running back and forth to the vet every week for months with both of my pups! I joke to my vet that I am putting her kids through college! She is a great vet and calls and checks up on us all the time. She has even made a house call at 11:00pm before. I am happy to say it has been 3 months since I have had to see the vet about either of my dogs!!!! ( Thats a record for the last two years!) Now my cat " Gyro" says it's his turn for some attention and has an appointment today at 4:00pm. Poor old man is losing so much weight!

I personally think it wonderful that your so attentive and alert to Winston's needs and potential health issues. A good vet won't look at that as someone who is a pain in the butt but someone who is a responsible and loving pet owner.

You keep right on doing things the way your doing them!
