Our secret Montan camping spot

Here are pictures of our secret camping spot in Montana. This is about 30 miles between Libby and Kalispell on Little Loon Lake. There is only one camping spot here so if we get it we have the entire lake to ourselves. We have been coming here and are lucky enough to have gotten this spot for 5 out of 7 years. It's my idea of paradise! There are miles of logging roads to ride motorcycles on and there are 7 different lakes to choose from for fishing, kyaking, hiking....you name it. I anticipate our camping trip for months in advanced every year and we always go for 2-3 weeks at a time.

Oh Barrett! That is so beautiful. It looks just like it does around here where I live in Idaho. You are lucky to get such a spot. I hope next time you guys don't get sick. The dogs are too cute and you already told me that they totally enjoyed the trip. That's so nice for them. Thanks for showing us the pictures!

Gosh the dogs had a blast!!!!! Both of them lost a pound or two from running and sniffing and exploring. Bailey found a ball that she had lost from last year. She came crashing out of the woods with it in her mouth, jumping around like a little goat. She didn't let it out of her sight for the rest of the trip. I wonder if she actually remembers that it was hers and if she missed it.
Lucy was a little butt when we went kayaking. She kept jumping up on the bow of the kayak, almost falling in the lake. Later in the day she went out on an old log leaning into the lake and fell in. Bruce had to wade in and get her...shoes and all. After that she stayed seated in the kayak and didn't even look at the water. LOL. Poor Lucy.

We spend our days foraging for old dead wood to cut up with the little chain saw. I found out that dead pine branches fizzle and pop in a campfire like fire works. I couldn't get enough of tossing little branches in every 5 seconds and seeing the show. Bruce cut up so much wood we were able to have raging fires from morning to midnight to keep us warm. The first few days were quite cold and rainy. It stayed in the 30's and 40's and drizzled all day. The heater in our motorhome quit working too ( cuddling kept us warm though . ) We both caught colds and ended up sniffling and coughing for the rest of our trip.
Bruce is still very sick but is on the mend. I was very worried for the last few days that he might have pnemonia but the fever is pretty low now and his cough is breaking up. You know men, he won't go to the doctor for medicine but he'll complain how horrible he feels. I whine and beg to take him to the clinic but he just says no...he'll be fine.

All in all it was a wonderful trip and I can't wait to go again soon!

What a nice area you camp at. My husband loves to rough it in those kinds of places but I'm such a chicken. I'm always afraid of bears and things that are in woods.

Actually i think ive been there! we may not have camped there but it looks familiar. A couple weeks ago we went to lake ellen or ellen lake and there was a really sandy beach because the water was so low. it was fun. Great pictures BTW.

LOL, Calgal
We don't really "rough" it that much. We take showers in the motorhome or ride the motorcycles 3 miles to a store called "Happy's" and take long hot showers everyday. We cook speghetti, hamburger helper, and even made a frozen pizza once in the motorhome. We make the original camping dinners of hotdogs and hamburgers on the fire and make smores too. We made pancakes, french toast, bacon, eggs, sausage, toast, hashbrowns etc most mornings on the coleman stove on a griddle. I probably gained a few pounds on this trip so we definetly didn't rough it! We bring the protable dvd player and watch movies when it rains, we have our playstation portables so we can play video games in bed and have game wars where we can play each other wirelessly. We spend the rest of the days fishing, kayaking with the dogs or taking our motorcycles up on the logging roads and scouting out new lakes and camp sites. So far we haven't found anywhere better then this secret spot so we are staying put. I can't believe how fast the days go by. We get our lazy butts out of bed by 9am and play until 1 or 2 in the morning. Before I know it two weeks have flown by and it's time to go back home and actually go to work and continue our sad boring lives again. I miss Montana..I wanna go back!

OH GEEZE!!!! This is what too long of a vacation does to you! I got up this morning, got my crummy uniform on, bid the dogs and cats goodbye and started to drive to work. I noticed the garbage truck go by and said "oh $#!@, is it garbage day????" I looked at my watch and said "yep, it's Tuesday!" Then I said "Wait a minute, it's Tuesday....I don't work on Tuesday............* long pause*......"I'M OFF TODAY!!!!!!!" Yipppeeeeee I get one more day of vacation! I'm going to the state fair today instead!
