How to tell your dog's not a rocket scientist...
Post your dog's airhead moments.
![]() * Winston does this thing where he will somehow grab his leash about four inches from where it hooks onto his collar. And then he somehow manages to loop it around his paw. So he's growling and freaking out and going crazy with the mean old leash firmly between his teeth, holding his own paw up off the ground and thinking the leash is some evil mysterious force holding him prisoner. * The round footstool in the bedroom is his stepstool up to the bed. When he's invited up, it's right at the edge of the bed. If he's not, it's in the corner. I swear to goodness, every time he jumps up on the stool, no matter where it is, he expects to find the bed right in front of him. He looks at us like, "What happened? Where am I?" and tries to gauge the distance to see if it's jumpable (never is). Then again, he did have a very sneaky rocket scientist moment earlier... my husband accidentally dropped a couple of wontons on the floor and I guess missed one under the recliner. We were watching a movie, and Winston yelped from the hallway, so I went to check on him, and of course ended up snuggling him. I took him out to the sofa, where he snuggled with my husband, and I got on the sofa, too, planning an all-out snugglefest. The second I sat down, Winston leapt off the couch and ran for the recliner. He's too big to really fit under it, so he was wriggling like mad, trying from all sides. I didn't know what he was after until I'd picked him up and returned him to the hallway, and then I saw the big prize -- the cheese fried wonton he'd just dug out. He must have seen it from the hallway and been plotting for it all that time... and we thought he just felt like snuggling. ![]() |

Bailey will drop her toys behind the couch and then cry bloody murder because she can't get it back. I have to move the couch back from the wall and save her poor trapped toy. When I give it back to her she spins in circles and licks my hands to say thankyou. Then she grabs the toy and runs and drops it behind the couch again! She does this over and over until I pull my hair out and throw the toy outside. Then she cries bloody murder because I threw her toy outside for an hour.
Now, she either 1.) is having a not so smart moment and truly dosn't understand that if she drops the toy behind there she can't get it back or 2.) knows excatly what she is doing and just loves watching me get frusterated and pull my hair out. Her rocket scientist side is the fact that she will get up on her hind legs and push the dining table chairs ( which are on wheels ) around the house so she can use them to climb up on the kitchen counters, book shelves, washing machine....etc, to look for food and toys that I took away from her ( for putting them behind the couch!!!!!). When I leave the house I have to push all of the chairs into the hall way and put a baby gate up to keep her away from them. Now what I'm wondering is how can a dog do something as smart as this but still not understand how to heel after two years of training? Perhaps thats another rocket scientist moment too? ![]() |

Dogs definetly have their moments!Wendy's rocket scientist stuff and stupid stuff Rocket Science She will, on purpose, "throw" her ball inder the table. She goes on her side, and puts her paws under the table and gets the ball, but other times, she acts all innocent and paws at us to get the ball. She is a sweet little angel! ,Well, she is silly! I really cant think of anything stupid she does...she did make friends with my blood-sucking-vampire-gerbil, though!I'm just surprised she just went up to the cage and stuck her nose right up to it, and Buddy (vampire gerbil) just ran right up and said "hi" in the gerbil-like way!If Wendy ever did get bit, I would nurse her back to health! She could turn my TV on if she tried lol! Max (cat), always stares at Buddy and licks his lips, and Wendy always comes and scares him away! |

amlet repeatedly drops toys off the bed and then stares at them like they will teleport up to the bed by themselves.....
when we say sit, he goes down, when we say down, he jumps in the air at the treat.... he eats EVERYTHING he sees...he loves large amts of grass, random sticks, fuzz balls, lint, pieces of paper...really anything that isn't invisable... he's afraid of little puff ball bichons, but will go up to a rottweiller.... um, that's all i have off the top of my head...but believe me, there's more! |

Lets see...
Shelby trips coming up the stairs fairly often. She will fall off the couch. She has run into a fair share of walls. She does the same leash thing Winston does. Always wants to snuggle when she is really gassy But she is my baby, so I usually just laugh. ![]() |

Brandy has never been too keen on fetch. I'll throw the toy or ball for her to chase. She'll just look back at me like, "What'd you do that for?" Or she'll go get it and think I want to play Keep-Away. Or she'll chase the toy, put it in her mouth for a second, drop it, and run back to me without it.
Even if she does run after it, she'll only do it like twice in one play session. Then she'll just lie down and act bored. |

Pippin is a dumbhead. I don't know if he's EVER had a rocket scientist moment. I guess his rocket scientist moments are what would be considered "average intelligence" in a dog. XDD
He's just dumb and goofy overall. He runs into the same things everyday. Jeez, you'd think he would learn! XD |

Max went behind the couch and discovered the sticky trap for mice....he came out looking really embarrassed because it was stuck to the end of his nose......so we fixed the issue and what does he do? Go behind the TV and come out with another!!! DUH

It took Peanut several days to understand how the doggy door worked. Once she did, we praised her as if she found a cure for cancer.
Bubba, on the other hand, was out and back in through the doggy door before my boyfriend finished hammering the last nail. |
