My daughter named her Lucky, for she was a day away from being PTS. Her name fits her to a T.

We get two reactions to our beagles name, Yoshi. (AB Purple Yoshi)

We are both geeks and love our video games. Our 'geeky' friends love the shutout to Nintendo's charactre. Purple is my favorite colour and since Yoshi's come in many colours we added Purple to the name.

Since we live on the westcoast and there is so much Asian influnence here our non-'geeky' friends like the Asian feel to the name.

We had picked the name before we met our puppy so when we saw all the pups from the litter we looked at each one and thought 'Are you Yoshi?'

Tifany0204 - Thanks for starting this thread. It has been a lot of fun to read. Just looking a Gizmo, how could your mom sugges 'Fuggie'?

Duchess - We named her for the fact that Queen Elizabeth of England has Pembroke Welsh Corgis, and Duchess seems to know this fact, as she is queen of the house and she lords over the others.

Avalanche - Some people ask why we named him as we did, since he's not as big as a lot of Sams (45lbs rather than 55+). I keep telling them, he looks HUGE when he jumps on the bed at 3am and your eyes are half closed!! LOL

Ruby - It is short for her AKC name (Pyne-Wood's Aruba Tuesday). She is usually called Ruby-Doo, as I am a big Scooby-Doo fan, and when Scooby says his own name, it comes out as Ruby-Doo!! LOL

Phantom - He is another one who is partially named for his AKC name (Camelot's Midnite Masquerade). He has a small white blaze on his right ear, that when you move his ear over his eye, he looks like he has a partial mask, a la Phantom of the Opera. He is also the spitting image of his sire (CH Camelot's Midnite Rendezvous aka Easy), so he is the "Phantom of Easy"

You just HAVE to love some of the logic we pet owners have for naming our pets!! LOL

Brandy: I don't know, just sounded like a good name for a dog. Plus it seems to fit her. I could have just as easily named her Tipper because of the white at the end of her tail, or Shadow because of how she follows everyone around so closely!

I used to have a GSD mix named Coco. When we brought her home as a puppy, she was almost completely black, with a little bit of brown thrown in. So you can figure out that name.

My best friend and her boyfriend just got a Basset hound named Eeyore. Mainly because both the dog and the cartoon character are always so sad-looking.

A lot of the dogs in Blitz's line have thunderstorm themes. His AKC name is Briarwood Thunderbolt. Blitz is German for lightning...and no we're not neo-nazis and didn't name him after Blitzkrieg!
