question...
I was just wondering if you have a rescue dog, can you give it a formal name like you would if your dog was AKC registered or whatever? Just sounds kinda fun to have a formal name and a short regular name...

sure! both of mine are shelter dogs and they both have three different names.
luce does have her ILP so she can compete in AKC sports and her formal name is Siren's Eleusinian Mystery, CGC. her "full" name is eleusis jane, and her most-used name is luce. mushroom doesn't have his ILP, but his formal name is Siren's Poisonous Mushroom. his "full" name is mushroom wallace, and he gets called mushroom. (siren was my first dog, also a rehome i got when she was 15) i'm weird, but i'm ok with that  |

If thats what you want to do then go for it~!* Thats what I did with one of my dogs~ his name was Zacharius Joderious Wright...interesting yes lol but we just called him Zach but the poor dear just got so so board here..he was a lab and didn't have enough room to run and play so we gave him to a friend with about 5 achres of just fun fun fun! lol plus he chewed threw 10 waterhoses:S...

Cool! Thanks! Also, is it possible to get a dog AKC registered so they can compete in AKC?

AKC Indefinite Listing Priviledge allows purebred but unpapered (or purebred-looking) AKC breed dogs to be registered to compete in sports. they must be spayed/neutered. they cannot compete in conformation. hope this helps!
