I too went to the dermatologist to have some red itchy spots on my shins checked and was told it was eczema, and that is was not contagious. He said eczema usually shows up in cold weather. He said to put my legs in the sun and burn them a little. I found that to be funny comming from a Dr., anyway I put them in the sun for about 15 minutes each day for 3 days, then when the redness from the sun went away I started doing that again. I have a nice tan on the front of my legs, so now have to get the backs. The eczema is gone, but it could return in a month a year or years. I don't take medications, they shorten your life because your body forgets how to take care of itself so you end up needing even more medication untill your on a down-hill spiral.

I got a touch of that on my hands a few years ago. The skin cracked and peeled and it was itchy and I had it for a few months during the rainy season. My Mom gave me Emu oil to put on it and told me never to let it dry out, keep putting the oil on even through the night. It went away in about 2 weeks.

So far it hasn't ever come back. I guess you can use the Emu oil for just about anything. It's like a cure all. I had tried all kinds of lotion, bag balm, and the over the counter meds and nothing else worked.

Just ****** me off cause Iam on all this medication with I think this is what it is, would have been better if they did a culture and went from that.... Yup I looked like a pink delmation lol I can laugh about it now Iam still a lil red but fading... The spots looked like a red doughnut with my skin color in the middle, now its kinda flaky like dry skin and really itchy thats why she figures eczema. When I applied the canestin (for ringworm) it never really faded the dots after a week or so.... Now just wondering what all these drugs are doing on my system and I no they are not good, gonna be done this Ketocanzole on saturday that will be 30 days worth, then I start the Apo-Prednisone on Sunday and done that on the 27th they have to ween me off of that.... All this sounds like so much fun Just hope this diagnoses this time is right, guess it should be since she is a dermatologist. Praying

Thank you all for your kind words and help :-) It has been greatly appreciated

Eczema is a fungus, so it's not all that easy to control especially in cold weather. (maybe a tanning lamp would be a good investment) Fungus can't live in the sun, that's why the Dr. said to do a little burning. What ingredients are in the Emu oil? Where is it sold? I'm going to ask a pharmacist tomorrow about the Emu oil. This is interesting.
