ROFLAO! How I love reading these threads.

My best teen memories were getting ready to go to the mall with my supper cool denim jeans with the zips on the sides (wishing to own a pair of Jordashes that were way to expensive but NOT FAIR all my friends had them..lol) and my Fry Boots want to be and my hair permanently burnt but flipped on each side just the right way. And let’s not forget to sprits some nice Love Baby Soft perfume! Once at the mall I'd pick out a new 45 rpm record at the music store. They would always have the top ten greatest hits of the week and I had to have the #1 best hit song whether I liked it or not.

Oh my goodness I was a spaze! Still am!

LOL Boones! ** singing to the old song " Ohhhhh what a night!"**

Like the country song says - I've seen the stuff inside Stretch Armstrong. Remember that thing? lol

Remember the wide legged jeans and cords with the bright colored stitching? The slouch socks over spandex? **shivers** Lord knows those weren't for everyone!

Steely Dan, Jethro Tull....lol wow what memories. ** starts singing " Don't go breakin' my heart."**

Child of the 80s if:
You remember Don Johnson when he was "cool"

You know who shot J.R

You remember when Michael Jackson was actually considered something of a sex symbol

You practice getting in and out of your car through the windows

You owned at least one skinny leather tie.

Your first Walkman weighed 10 pounds and was the size of a brick.

You wore L.A. Gear tennis shoes.

You know the meaning of Wax on/Wax Off

If you can "See Better" with sunglasses that have paint splattered all over the lenses. You can feel St. Elmo's fire burnin' in you.

You need a shopping cart to carry your personal stereo with you.

You remember what Michael Jackson looked like before the surgery.

You go rollerskating every Friday night (not to skate, but to 'hang out')

You still want to take Karate...(after you move to California)

"Outrageous!" is the term to describe something neat and cool

You had a poster of Bo, Luke & Daisy Duke

There was nothing to question about Bert n' Ernie living together

The phrase "Where's the beef?" still doubles you over with laughter.

You went out and purchased the sound track for 'Miami Vice'

If you think Hulk Hogan is the best wrestler of all time.

Two words: The Clapper.

Six words: "This is your brain on drugs."

Ferris Bueller was your idol.

You watched 'Star Search' on a regular basis.

Every now and then, you blurt out: "Ooh noo, Mr. Bill!!!"

If you had an entire wardrobe of Esprit clothing (or coveted one.)

Your bangs are teased perfectly to 7 inches above the rest of your hair.

Have multi-colored earrings that touch your shoulders

You wore lace gloves with the fingers cut off, bangle bracelets up to your elbows, bright red Reebok high tops and parachute pants to a school dance

You're still bitter that WHAM broke up

You know whose phone number is 867-5309

You drink Diet Coke because Max Headroom told you to

You still watch things on Beta tapes

You have the tendency to turn up the collar of your polo shirts

You never go out for a night on the town without frosted blue eyeshadow and feathered bangs

Everything in your wardrobe is either pastel or fluorescent

People are constantly gagging you with spoons.

You know all the words to "I'm just a bill, sitting up on Capitol Hill" and "School House Rock."

The feeling in your thumb is only now just returning after holding down the Atari joystick to control the racecar in Enduro Racer

You still can't believe that Milli Vanilli was deceiving you all that time

You can sing all the words to "One Night in Bangkok" by Murray Head, and now you understand that it is about chess.

You still wear a bandana tied around your leg and/or a ponytail off-center on the side of your head.

You know who Martha Quinn is.

You still carry your boom box on your shoulder

You think David Hasselhoff was awesome in Knight Rider but sucks in "Boob Watch."

A piece of folded paper and two hands could tell your fortune.

Leg warmers were cool

You had ringside seats for Luke and Laura's wedding

You ever had a Dorothy Hammill haircut.

You thought a Commodore 64 was the highest technology available

You wanted to be "The Hulk" for halloween

You want to be "Where Everybody Knows Your Name"

'A Different World' kicked butt

You know who played Magnum P.I

One Phrase, "The Plane, The Plane"

You can name at least three members of the Brat Pack

Still think banana clips were a godsend

Still wear Wet n' Wild makeup

If your idea of hi-tech toys is still the heat-sensitive color-changing sticker on Transformers

If you remember Bruce Willis from Moonlighting, not Die Hard

You still have a couple of those barettes made of woven ribbons.

You had snap bracelets

You remember when Pee-Wee wasn't a pervert.

You had had five pairs of socks on at any given time

You still think Donkey Kong can beat Mario up

If you still have your scratch-n-sniff sticker collection

If you remember when you heard that drinking soda and eating Pop Rocks would make your stomach asplode

If you ever used Lee Press-On Nails

If you wear jelly shoes

You still play with that CASIO SK-1 Keyboard

You're still hoping for a New Kids on the Block reunion tour

You still argue over who was better: Tiffany or Debbie Gibson

Every time you hear the "OH YEAH..." song you think of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"

You still watch tapes of Stingray, McGyver, and Airwolf

I loved Airwolf and Mcgyver!!!! The best cartoons were Thundercats, GI Joe, Transformers, He-man, and the Smurfs. The first tapes I ever bought were Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and Madonna ...( and REO Speedwagon....*cough*)

I remember getting MTV for the first time and and watching Def Leppard and Aerosmith. Ahh I think I still have a poster of Max Headroom somewhere around here!

What was the deal with men in the 80s and hair perms? I for one hope this trend will not be repeated. "lol"

Grrrrrr!!! Oh don't be so hard on us! We're not all idiots, you know! One thing: it's true that now the youth of today have a lot things that were most definitely not there then, but wait a moment! You then had a lot of things we do not have!

I remember my mom yelling all the time "get outside and play!" It wasn't unusual during the summer for us to be outside from 8 a.m. to 8 pm. Now a lot of kids stay inside on their computers and they all look like pale ghosts LOL
WRONG! Modern youth's idea of fun seems to be standing in small groups doing nothing at all. No doubt this was also a pastime before, but it seems to have turned into the only possible thing to do! I do not find it the best way to spend my afternoon. It seems that I choose wrong not to bore myself to death, as I am jabbed at rather overmuch for my liking.

So think! You are lucky!

(Sorry for the rant )

I just caught up with this thread...OMG!!! I remember everything on the list! I am a total child of the 80's (showing my age) and these "rants" brought it all back in living color!!

My 6 year old son saw his first episode (re-run) of the Smurfs, and came running in to tell me all about Papa Smurf!! Of course, I had to pretend it was all new to me, but later laughed my butt off!!

My question is, if the 70's clothing style is back now, when will the 80's come back????? I want to wear the bananna clips, bandannas, and rock t-shirts again!! LOLOL

No one is calling the young "idiots", my fellow Pawite. In fact, there was a thread titled "18 Year Olds Everywhere!", in which you will see a lot of compliments aimed at the younger folks in this forum, after someone took a stab at them!

The amount of knowledge most of the current generation has under their belt by the age of 14, is quite amazing!

Just bear with us older folks, ranting and reminiscing a bit.

Oh. Mah. Gahd. Paint-splattered sunglasses! Those had hidden away in the dark recesses of my imagination until just now!

And those hair barettes that were clips with feathers, ribbons, and beads hanging down... I thought I was so cool!

I'm 27 and I identify and totally agree with the first post...except that here in Aussieland, we didn't have cable.
I can't believe you think having only 20 channels was hard! ROFL We had 4. In fact, until just a year ago I only had 5. Now days I have 7. WooHoo!
No cable here, can't get it where I'm located.

I use to LOVE the smurfs, he-man (I always wanted my own 'battle cat'..even got a toy one for xmas one year) and she-ra. I still know the theme song from transformers. LOL I also remember the My little pony and Strawberry Shortcake cartoons and dolls. Had both of them. Well, I had a Blueberry Muffin doll. I loved their pets the most.
OHHH and the Care Bears! I LOVED the care bears and the care bear cousins. I had my own 'Brave Heart Lion', but he's since been lost unfortunately.

Hehehe! I use to go rollerskating too. I loved it, that was one of my favourite things to do on a saturday.

Cass.
