Arrow Lucky's Tale

I found Lucky in my Mom's carprot in July 2005. I had her call the pound to come get him, but by the time (minutes) he came I told him to leave. I thought they would just kill him the way he looked. I couldn't let that happen. He was just skin and bones. Very weak I didn't think he was going to be walking again, but he is. I have never seen a dog in this condition in my life. I was shocked. He has broken bottom K-9's, yes both bottom ones mostly gone. He had an abscess the size of a fist. That burst open and then there was a big nasty wound. It got medicated and fixed up. Poor Lucky was so full of fleas that he had solid spots of black flea dirt. Over a dozen ticks came off of him. He had at one point broken his leg but nobody fixed it properly so he has a gimp leg. I had to take him to the vet (straight to the vet) then home and fix him up and show him that somebody loves him.

I wrote that a while back. Now he has had a total of 9 abscesses, still getting treated. He has gained weight nicely. He has spunk now and loves the other kids in the household. I really can't believe someone could do this to a dog. Heck I knew who owned him. DHS took her kids away so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that her dog wound up looking like this. I found out who's dog it was after I took him home. I wasn't about to tell her I took him. He's better off now. Here are some before and after pictures.

What a story, that first picture just breaks my heart. Thank you Jami for taking this boy in when he needed someone. It takes a kind person to help a stranger and an even kinder person to give a dog a second chance at life.

Thank goodness he came to you and not someone else. I truly admire you for taking him in and loving him, the way he should have been all along.
You are quite and angel

What a major difference. You can see how sad he was in the before picture and how happy he is now. I just hope that lady doesn't find out you have her dog and then get him back. Hang on to those pictures just in case.

Over my cold dead body will she get this dog back...
Seriously though she will not get Lucky nor has she tried.
I have been logging his recovery with TONS of pics. I think the 1 hour photo people think I'm crazy. I bring in roll after roll of animal pictures.....lol.

The vet said it was from a forgien body ie: could be a tick head or something of the sorts. There's no telling. They tried looking for it but found nothing. I just keep an eye on things best I can for now.
