Although the title to this post might at first sound like our trip was a disappointment, it was actually a blast! The only thing is our dog park is split in two sections: big dog and small dog. It so happened that everyone who was at the park had a big dog
![]() So Rocky, my G/F and I played together in the small area. I felt so bad for Rocky cause all the other other dogs were having fun together, and he was stuck with us. So I made sure to give him lots of attention, and we played fetch and ran around. Eventually two other dog owners pitied us and came over to the small area. That was really nice of them, b/c I wanted Rocky to get some interaction with another dog off leash. So he made a couple new friends and got to run around a bit, but it was short lived. Anyways the experience was fun for all of us. We stayed maybe an hour, since no one else really was in our area and it was really cold out. We are going to try again this Sunday; hopefully the weather will be better and my friend Eric (VirusSRT on this board), is going to bring his dog so they can play with each other. ![]() |

living wayyyyyyyyyyy out in the burbs we don't have a dog park, but what do they do about little dogs that aren't little dogs in their heads?
I know most groomers and boarders, for instance, will put JRTs with big dogs so that tiny dogs don't get hurt accidentally. |

Aww, next time we're in Columbus for a show maybe we can get together so Rocky can have some fun with the bullies.

Well I found out from someone today that had some involvement in the creation of the dog park that it is okay for little dogs to go in the big dog area, but big dogs are not allowed in the small dog area. So that's good to know. We might try again today if the weather is decent.

Winston went to the dog park for the first time yesterday! He was pretty intimidated but he did play some with the other dogs. A guy brought in a little old chihuahua and the thing was hilarious. If a dog came near her, she snarled and growled and basically threatened them. This little tiny chihuahua totally told off an exuberant Rottweiler puppy. And Winston gave her about twenty feet of clearance at all times.

My dog park has the same thing and almost no one goes in the little dog area. It is mostly for puppies or dogs that need to be off leash, but might be prone to aggression. All you have to do is watch the little dogs and make sure they don't get trampled.

We went yesterday and they had closed off the area so it was big dogs and little dogs. Rocky did really well! The weather was a bummer though so we only stayed for an hour, and we got really muddy. Otherwise it was a great time and he was able to play with all sorts of dogs!
