Thumbs up Rocky’s first Halloween party!

Yesterday my G/F and I took Rocky to a new Petsmart. A co-worker gave us the 411 and we decided to go. So we dressed him up in a bumblebee costume we purchased at Target and away we went!

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...4/DSCN0050.jpg

When we arrived it was dead. I mean seriously dead in there. The party was supposed to start at 6 and we were there a little bit after 6. We walked around for a few minutes, and found a bulldog dressed in a ballerina costume! So they sniffed each others butts for a second and then we moved on. We found an employee and they directed us to the training area where the festivities were suppose to be. There were a handful of dogs there, so at least we finally found the party.

They took his picture with a Polaroid camera for free, and then about 15 minute later everybody and there brother was in this place! I swear there had to be well over 20 dogs. Everything from yorkies, to German Shepard, and a lot of mix breeds. We even ran in to a couple of other Pugs! Rocky was really interested in this other girl pug. I think he was trying to put the moves on her. I whispered in his ear that I heard spreading elk urine works with some girls from some other posts I’ve read.

So other than a lot of mingling with other dogs in a variety of costumes, they had some games going on. One was a three card monty sort of game where they stuck a marrowbone treat in a cup and moved that cup along with two other ones around the floor on a placemat. The dog was to guess which one had the treat, tip is over or have the handler reveal it and wahla! Rocky took an interesting approach by taking his nose and bulldozing over all the cups until he found it. Effective yes, but not necessarily graceful

The only downer was that we forgot our digital camera! Can you believe it! A huge tactical error on our part, so the only pics that were taken of Rocky is the one we have from the Polaroid, and some that were taken by random people that we will never have a chance to see.

Has anyone else been to a costume party with their pets lately or planning to go to one?

I haven't done the pet costume party, but I just wanted to say that Rocky looked darling! Oh, wait--he looked mean and mighty. Yeah, that's it.

I agree - Rocky is absolutely a doll in his bumble bee costume! I've never taken the Shibalings to a Halloween party - sounds like it could be a lot of fun. (They aren't much for costumes though - is it a requirement)?

I say costume is optional. Some dogs just had a thing over their necks. We have a Harley Davidson for Rocky that he wasn't worn yet. Tried once and he wanted to play tug'owar ... so we are putting that one on hold till a later date

It was fun to watch Rocky and this other girl Pug dressed as a Ladybug. They started to give each other kisses and their tails were wagging. Rocky the ladies man!!!

Oh is he a cutie!! I am going to try to take my babies to Petco on Saturday for their yearly costume contest. They give out goody bags to every dog that comes that usually has treats and toys in it. We have went the last 2 years and neither of them ever won the contest, but we have fun. Only problem this year is they have a vet appointment that day at 11 and registration for the contest begins at 1:30 and my vet is like an hour away, but we are going to try to make it. Rocky is just adorable and it sounds like he had fun. Here are their costumes this year-Tigger and Sully.

I'm going to call PetSmart to see if they are having a party for the dogs. Never heard about one. We have a PetCo here in my little town but didn't see anything about a party when I was there today.
Your little guy looks so cute in the bee costume, but he doesn't look like he like's it.

calgal: No he doesn't like it ... he likes to bite it ... but wearing it is a whole other story. It takes a great deal of peanut butter on a natural eddible to get it on.
